College Admissions Essay: The Little Things In Life
The little things in life can make the biggest differences. Those small words of encouragement, those small praises, can make a difference in someone’s life. Each word of encouragement you give is like a beacon of hope in an ocean of despair. This hope can give courage during hardships. As Robert Collier once said, “Most of us, swimming against the tides of trouble the world knows nothing about, need only a bit of praise or encouragement – and we will make the goal.” Words of encouragement and praise bring out the best in me which, in turn, brings out the best in other through my teamwork, my courage, and my hope in times of little hope.
One of the things I show when I do my best is teamwork. When I am on the tennis courts, I show my teamwork the best. Imagine this, you are in a heated doubles tennis match. It is currently a tie game. The score is four to four. Your doubles friend is serving. He serves and hit the ball directly over the net, but the other team is ready. In this situation, you will be

It can take great courage to go on a stage and be in a play. It also takes great courage to perform the piano and the violin to a crowd of people. I’ve had to do both of those on the same day. When I perform piano and violin, I always try my best. The major thing my best brings out in this situation is courage. People see me perform and think to themselves, “Maybe this won’t be that bad.” Since I am also a greater skill level than some of other kids because they are younger, they also think, “When I am older, I could be as good, or even better, than the person who just performed. All I have to do is try my best!” This allows them to bring out their full potential and become a great musician. I sometimes even think that I can be just as good as another musician at the performance if I try my best every time I play. This applies to more than just the piano and the violin, but in my case, those are the two it applies

My adrenaline was rushing; my heart was beating fast as I was walking on the stage to perform at a violin recital. I was really excited and happy that got I to perform my best potential to play a musical instrument. However, at the end of the recital, my happiness and excitement were gone because most of the students either receive “The Best performance Award” or “The Most Improve Award,” but I got neither. My mother said those students were at least two years older than me, so they had more time to practice more than I did. I did not really understand what my mother meant until I read chapter one of the book, “Outliers” written by Malcom Gladwell.…

My life started out like the beginning of a perfect childhood. Both of my parents had steady, well-paying government jobs, we had moved into a new home and even bought a puppy. All was harmonious, until my parents decided we would have a better life in Canada. Leaving behind everything and everyone we knew was probably one of the hardest things my parents ever did for my brother and me. Struggling to fit in and assimilate was least of our problems, trying to make a decent income became a priority. My parents, who were well educated and accomplished, were compelled to settle for multiple meager jobs like a cashier at a fast food restaurant or a security guard at an apartment building. They held as many jobs as they could, working…

To reach this ladder of success, I‘ve developed my own methods of survival through peace, love, and positivity. Unlike that homeless man who survives on his own, I persevere through helping others who lost their hope or are simply driven by the fear of working hard. On my free time, I motivate younger classmen with this message with the intention of leading them down a pathway unlike those who make up our despairing community. My change of perspective opened up many doors which allowed me to become a role model and a captain of my cross country team. Although my community has affected my academics and home situations profoundly, I now have the strive on bettering my future and experience on how it feels to fail but not give…

Though I am sure of my identity, who I am and what I wish to accomplish now, it definitely was not something that came quickly. For a long time, I didn’t think I’d ever have the one special thing about me that I assumed everyone else had- the activity they threw themselves into, that dominated their lives and everyone knew them for. With just about everything I tried, I never quite found that deep passion for anything. I didn’t realize yet that I’d dismissed a significant part of myself a long time ago that was crucial to figuring out what I wanted to do with my life.…

While my teachers instilled the fundamental aspects of a well-rounded education, I learned through my own experience that education extends beyond the classroom. My activities in academics, athletics, community service and work experience, have instilled qualities in me that will prepare me for the immediate future of college and beyond.…

In this class, I hope to achieve a lot of different things. I chose to take this class because it would help allow me to manage my time in a wise manner. I’m a senior in high school, and I’m doing this through the Running Start program. After I’ve graduated, I might take online classes, so I’m hoping that this will give me an idea of what that would be like. I have a lot of activities that I’m involved with, so I hope to learn to manage my time better. Honestly, those are probably the only things that I expect to achieve in this class.…

We are never promised the honor to live the next day; we are never guaranteed tomorrow. You can not live regretting your decisions. You must live in the moment or the moment is wasted. The one you love more than words could describe could be gone tomorrow; the reason they are gone could get locked up. Lose focus and look away, what you turned to see can be the last thing you saw before you life flashes before your eyes. Your next breath you take in could be your last. We all realize these things at our own pace; we all have experiences that open our eyes to reality; mine were all crammed into one dramatic week. “Everything happens for a reason, but I think it's important to seek out that reason - that's how we learn” as said…

. . like they say teamwork makes the dream work. In track I use teamwork to ensure success on the track with my relay team. I work together with three other people, and push them to try their hardest to help us be successful. In my community, I use the element of teamwork to collaborate with fellow teachers at the summer camp I volunteer at. We use teamwork to help efficiently plan activities and lessons for the children. I also use the teamwork aspect learned from sports at school; we had to decide on which class shirts to order so we came together with each other to reach a mutual agreement on which shirt design to…
