All was harmonious, until my parents decided we would have a better life in Canada. Leaving behind everything and everyone we knew was probably one of the hardest things my parents ever did for my brother and me. Struggling to fit in and assimilate was least of our problems, trying to make a decent income became a priority. My parents, who were well educated and accomplished, were compelled to settle for multiple meager jobs like a cashier at a fast food restaurant or a security guard at an apartment building. They held as many jobs as they could, working…

Attending school has taught me useful tips I’ll use for the rest of my life, whether its time management, not procrastinating with anything and pushing myself to the highest possible limit. At the end of the day college is not for everyone to attend, it isn’t something to not take seriously; it requires dedication, patience, social skills, etc. Although college is a privilege but I see it more as a necessity in life in order to expand your horizons and life’s possibilities.…

These were, and still are, the ultimate objectives I have for myself and every action I take and have taken has been formed around this sentiment. My parents taught me that “dreams are the touchstones of our character” and that it is important to dream big while remaining clear on goals and realistic with decisions. On the path to deciding my future, their advice remains with me and assists in establishing myself in the goals that I have set.…

I have been in school for twelve years and seen many friends drop out. I’ve never understood how they could make it so far and just give up. But the only thing that seems to make any since is a lack of determination. It is very good to have vivid image of the things you want in life. A lion doesn’t hunt its prey with its eyes closed so don’t blindly chase after a dream or hope to accomplish something without putting any effort towards it. Think about the things you want in the future and weigh out the possibilities. Once you know what you want in life then you can set goals to achieve your dreams. Although some people can have a very vivid image of the life they want, but when things get a bit rough they lose hope and walk away. As one of the greatest military leaders once said “The truest wisdom is a resolute determination” -Napoleon Bonaparte. I believe that means the best way to stay determined in achieving your personal goals is to stay focused, courageous, and decisive at all times.…
