College Admissions Essay: Finding Myself

Trying to “find yourself” in high school is like spotting a hundred dollar bill hidden amongst the leaves strewn across the street. Of course, there are the fortunate few who uncover the reward, but the majority of people are not as lucky. I do share this luxury with such people. My former attitude concerning my future was one that hoped I would figure it out one day, as if I would know all of a sudden; however, this epiphany never occurred. Thus, I went on to approach life on a winding path, for there was not a direct goal for me to pursue. Despite this hindrance, I found enjoyment in a wide range of interests that have worked together to expand my way of thinking, which is different than most. I have a strong right and left brain, enabling me to analyze situations both logically and creatively. In this respect, I have become capable of opening up to new possibilities as well as communicating with a common ground established between myself and others. My ability to think on a deeper
Subjects become more fascinating to me as I investigate further into them. A vast number of concepts become intertwined in my mind; it seems as though everything relates in some way. When I establish a link between ideas, I feel like I have purpose, for this little discovery of my own is a personal victory. With additional knowledge, I connect facts and strategies to one another to reach solutions. I am a thrill-seeker, so I have rejected the idea of limitations. Adventure calls me, and like a magnet, I cling to it. It does not bother me to spread my energy over multiple areas, it excites me. I will determine my future when the circumstances are right, and I plan to obtain the experience and wisdom necessary to get there. Once in college, I will utilize my way of thinking in my studies to continue my campaign of solving problems as large as the world. After all, it is not what you know, but how you use
