    1. Colgate is a company that was going up when I purchased them. They have special offers, community programs, and sustainability systems. As stereotypical as this is, the Latinos love Colgate and they are the fastest growing population in the United States, therefore, Colgate is being invested in a lot and continuing to go up. Colgate produces a necessity. No matter what, the chances of people no longer needing tooth paste are very low. I chose this over any other dentistry related company because I personally buy Colgate products and trust them a lot.…

And not only because of its products but also because of their values, that they promised to use all natural ingredients and also ensured that they wouldn’t harm the planet. But in reality the story was different. When she was given the responsibility of campaigning one of its product Ore Essentials, she came to know that the story behind growing the product is quite different. Ma Earth Skin Care was using a different strategy to maintain its image in the market. The company was paying the tribes neither for growing the product there nor for purchasing. They were actually buying its product at a cheap rate from a mainstream supplier. But the company wants to convey its message to the customers that the product is very precious and rare, and they get it only from the tribal area. So this was the ethical issue Heather was facing. She wasn’t ready to accept the way the company was marketing its product.…

Colgate-Palmolive has been researching and developing a superior toothbrush, the Colgate Precision, and as the Precision Product Manager I have overseen the development of the Precision from start to finish. We have been developing a technical innovation in the toothbrush industry, and with the product’s launch pending there have been several factors yet to be decided upon. With a tremendous amount of resources pooled into the development of the Precision and the recent competitive market we are launching it in, it is essential the positioning and branding of this toothbrush are executed properly. The Precision, if done successfully, should stand out as a technological breakthrough to consumers and limit cannibalization of current Colgate brand toothbrushes. Another key issue that is at play for the business is whether the Colgate Plus brand will be cannibalized following the introduction of our new toothbrush. Through analysis of the marketing mix for the Precision toothbrush, and weighing the financial benefits and costs relative to the two positioning strategies, I will address the correct course of action for the Precision toothbrush to sustain a competitive advantage in the market.…

Diverse employees bring a wealth of creativity, insights, and skills to their jobs; it is up to employers to recognize, cultivate, and value these contributions (Walton, Sally, 1994). Diversity is about setting a mindset of valuing the differences in people and recognizing the similarities, it is not only about achieving results. Once this way of thinking is established, the benefits of cultural diversity in the workplace tend to come naturally, (Goessl, Leigh 2008). Diversity encompasses race, gender, ethnic group, age, personality, cognitive style, tenure, organizational function, education, background and more, (Greenberg, Josh 2004)…

This case discusses the implications Colgate faced when partnering with Hawley and Hazel in August 1985 (Luthans & Doh, 2012). The case presents “Darkie”, an objectionable toothpaste product being sold in the Asian market by Hawley and Hazel for almost 65 years. “Darkie” toothpaste featured a black-faced man on the packaging; modeled after entertainer, Al Jolson. Once Colgate partnered with Hawley and Hazel ethical issues began to arise as American’s were infuriated over the distasteful name and logo of the toothpaste. A package from a consumer in Thailand sparked a fire under the ICCR and they began their fight with Colgate. Due to several failed attempts to have the name and logo changed through Colgate, the ICCR turned to the NAACP and National Urban League to initiate protests against Colgate and their support of the “Darkie” toothpaste. The protests caused Colgate’s image to be tainted in the eyes of all American’s; ultimately Colgate paid for a name and logo change for the controversial toothpaste and has detached itself from the conflict-ridden product and from Hawley and Hazel. In this dissertation I will examine the strategic and ethical issues Colgate faced in its partnership. I will also discuss my recommendations for handling the situation and address the repercussions of changing advertisement on consumer brand loyalty. Finally, I will explore the “no management rights” stipulation Colgate agreed to with Hawley and Hazel.…
