The film cowboys and aliens is an adaptation of a comic book of the same name made in the 1990s in the UK. The film is a throwback to the classic cowboys and westerns and general sci-fi films of a classic area. The film is a mixture of two of the most popular genres ever seen in the film industry and includes all of the features you would expect to find in a classic sci-fi or western. In the film Indians also get a brief outing towards the end and they have a set of there own codes and conventions.

There are three different code categories, Category I, II, and III. The first category I codes are the most numerous and each are five digits long all numeric. Each of them has a description of the procedure the code is for. For example 99204 is Officer or other outpatient visit for evaluation and management of a new patient. They are grouped into sections, but they can be used by any physician. For instance a regular physician may use a surgical code even though he is not a surgeon. Each of these codes are for procedures that are known working procedures. So chemotherapy is a known working procedure it would fall under category I, but a procedure that they are still testing for effectiveness would not be in this category. Category II codes are used to track performance measures for medical goes. For instance, when a patient comes in to lose weight or to quit smoking, then the category II code comes into use. Each of these codes has an alphabetic character as the last digit. Category III codes are used for temporary technology, services, and procedures, but if they are proven effective then it can turn into a permanent code. So these codes are only used for experimental procedures. When a new procedure is introduced, but not yet proven effective then it is assigned a temporary code. If the procedure is proven affective then it can switch and become a permanent code, and these also have an alphabetic character for the last digit. So an easy way to remember these categories would be:…

There have been many genres of film that are included in American film history; one of which is the Western. In the mid 1900's Western films were at their peak and Saturday afternoons would be spent watching cowboys and Indians battle until the end while watching comfortably from a movie theatre. Knowing this, it's not hard to understand why film makers later on would base plots and characters off of these mystifying films. The Searchers, made in 1956 by John Ford, was a movie that followed the journey of Ethan Edwards, a cowboy on a mission to locate his niece, Debbie, who was kidnapped by Indians. Although this movie lacked a sense of reality, among other things, its cinematography and intriguing characters insured there would be more than…

To think of the American western or traditional western, brings visions of the good guy the cowboy who saves the day and the rides away or the sheriff who protects the town and gets the lady. Those were the simpler scenes when it is easy to differentiate between the good and bad guys. The motives and morals were clear as was the setting, the mood or tone and format of the filming. Those were movies that represented a different and simpler time in America and the movies romanticized those times. ?The…

The Western film consists of the films representing the 19th century in the American West and often represent that of the Wild West shows (Belton). With a name that includes both aliens and cowboys, there is obviously a cross between two very different generations or eras in the film. The most obvious would be the aliens in the film, which were much less common in films back in the beginning of all Western films. In addition to the aliens, the characters are also to look at as often times “Easterners tended to view the frontier as a rough and uncivilized region in habited by rude, semiliterate, semibarbaric backwoodsmen” (Belton). However, this was not the case with the people in Absolution; the citizens here were much more modernized, and were able to come together to defeat aliens with powerful weapons with the very under advanced weapons they possessed. Instead of just weapons, they used tactics formulated by the Colonel and the leader of the American Indian tribe, which shows their advanced state of mind and ability to think on their own. One last point to be made is the fact that most Western films were made based on conflicts over land, cattle, or range wars; but in this film it was different because the directors incorporated the aliens and gold into the film, which created a modern effect…

    The Code Talkers

From ancient Egyptians to Julius Caesar to Mary Queen of Scots to modern times, nations, kings and their armed forces have always had an overarching need for secure methods of communications. During World War I, the United States Army experimented, with limited success, with the use of Native American tribal languages, such as the Comanche and Choctaw, in the place of codes (Paul 7). The use of ancient languages in modern times had also been attempted by various governments, but the risk of any national understanding the language chosen would compromise the entire code. During World War II, the Allied forces cracked the Enigma, the main encoding system for Nazi Germany and also the codes Red and Purple used by Imperial Japan. The need for an unbreakable code was absolutely necessary for frontline action. However, this code had to be quick, effective, and simple yet complex enough so the enemy would not be able to decipher the vital messages being sent. Then the Navajo code talkers were formed, an elite unit in the United States Marine Corps (Pincock 119). This spoken code, however, would be unique, a code within a language characterized by guttural noises, grunts, and complex inflections that are highly difficult to learn after a certain age. A perfect, unbreakable radio code was born.…

John Ford built a standard that many future directors would follow with his classic 1939 film “Stagecoach”. Although there were a plethora of western films made before 1939, the film “Stagecoach” revolutionized the western genre by elevating the genre from a “B” film into a more serious genre. The film challenged not only western stereotypes but also class divisions in society. Utilizing specific aspects of mise-en-scène and cinematography, John Ford displays his views of society.…

The term first-listed diagnosis/condition is used in the outpatient setting in lieu of principal diagnosis, once again because of the timing. Often, diagnoses are not established at the time of the initial encounter in the outpatient setting and it may take two or more visits prior to a confirmed diagnosis. The documentation to support the reason for the visit should describe the patient's condition, using terminology that includes either specific diagnoses and/or symptoms, problems, or reasons for the encounter. In the instance where a discrepancy is discovered, determining the first-listed diagnosis per the coding conventions of ICD-9-CM, as well as the general and disease-specific guidelines within ICD-9-CM, will have precedence over the outpatient guidelines.…

There’s tons of movies, from all over the world and multiple legends and stories derived from it. The Old West gave Americans a sense of independence. The West was a place where you could live freely, unphased by all the large cities and problems of the world. It was a sort of utopia for the common man to dream about. It emphasized the idea of fight nature and brought upon the struggle of good versus evil. Furthermore, the idea of good and evil mixed in with cowboys was a really simple concept to recreate. No matter what part of the world a person lived in, they dreamed of something better and more adventurous than what they have. Therefore, it was very easy for other countries to take America's Old West theory and adapt it to their own movies and…
