Co-Op Refinery Case Study
Much like your Grandmother’s secret recipe for making her Sunday morning warm, Saskatoon berry filled scones, creating a sustainable future for Canadian communities requires the right ingredients. One of the most crucial ingredients for a community’s success is the involvement of the Co-operatives. Since relocating to Regina, I can see the positive impact the Co-operatives, specifically the Co-op Refinery, has had in contributing to the prosperity of the residents who call Regina home. As a newly adopted resident of Regina, I have experienced how the Co-operatives not only impact local communities, but how they impact, change and provide a secure future for people, people just like me.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is motivated to create a well-balance community for our young youth. They are a Not-for-Profit organization that deals with helping children who are struggling at school, having issues at home or who just need a companion to talk to on a weekly basis. This organization relies on our community to help support them and provide donations to keep this organization running in every state in our nation. WinCo Foods is a For-Profit organization that deals with a cheaper low-cost warehouse based out of Utah that supplies this grocery market with low-cost deals that low income families can afford. They are privately owned, where each employee owns a stock of the company which allows everybody employed with this company to have a say in how this grocery market runs and earns their profits. There are positive and negative views that could be related to each one of these organizations ranging from federal budget cuts, to the cost of food rising along with lack of volunteers and working for a non-union company which creates tension within the workforce along with lawsuits. Each company has their problems, but each organization also has their own ways that keeps them in business even through our economic struggles which is what we are going to analyze throughout this piece of writing.…

After reading this article I found the community to be affected drastically. Crime rates increased and people were angry so something had to be done. By deinstitutionalizing, we are not allowing the people who need the help to get it. In this case, a mentally ill patient was out unsupervised and set fire to downtown building. This fire resulting in two women killed and many angry residences in the community. Drastic changes needed to be made. Community viewpoint is extremely important. Media can get a hold of information and start articles from the mentally ill person who is constantly being disruptive in the community. The community can get annoyed at the same disturbance and result in calling the police. All these things are legit and can cause some great difficulties within the community. Although these are problems for communities, the mental health system has not devoted resources to study the aspects of deinstitutionalization or to trying a variety of systematic community intervention that may alleviate some of the stress. The continuation of conflicts between the community, the clients, and the mental health system could be the major reason why the process of deinstitutionalization has failed. The community and the mental health system need to work together to find a solution.…
