Reflection: Did your beliefs about development change? Write a brief reflection on why or why not (citations may not be needed in this section). My beliefs somewhat remain the same for most of the questions. The only difference that I really saw was that people personality change throughout their lives. I am thinking that the events throughout people lives changes their behaviors and beliefs. Week One: Themes in Development:
Physical: During this stage the child is learning to crawl and walk.
Social/Cultural: The child recognizes his/her parents as safe people.
Environmental: Improving socials skills, developing friendships, improving self-confidence, and aiding the care giver.

    Autonomy is the second stage of Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development. It takes place in the early childhood and mainly focuses on the personal choices the children make. Children gain a little independence in this stage; they make their own decisions based on what they like. Toilet training is one of the best examples of autonomy. Erikson believed that learning how to maintain one’s own body fluids and the feel to control it is a great step to becoming autonomous.
