Clinical Rotation Plan
I have five goals for this clinical rotation. Once again I want to be organized for my assessments. I also want to make sure that I include the client, every step of the way. I want to stay focused and not get distracted easily as well. I also want to apply what I learned in class when doing my assessments. As we have been working to improve physician engagement throughout NMG/NMH, the idea of enhanced Administration presence is a common theme across survey results. The idea recently surfaced that we could utilize the new Feinberg Physician Lounge as a space not only for physicians to come grab breakfast/lunch, meet with physician colleagues but also our leadership teams. Dr. Chrisman and Julie are excited about piloting this idea and selected you both to be our first executives to participate. You both have responsibilities for critical functions that our physicians want to learn more about and also recognize its critical component to not only their work but also their patients experience at NM.…

Different Sims-lab from school and patient medication reconciliation, which I performed at clinical rotation in IPPE-III served as a foundation for me to participate in this activity. For example, I had the opportunity to interview standardized patient during Sims-lab which included work up a patient before the interview, then interview standardized patient, step outside of room to assess the patient profile and come up with a plan, then discuss the plan with the patient and write the soap note. Since, that activity I was curiously waiting for an opportunity to perform such task to get familiarized with it. In addition, patient medication reconciliation activity at clinical rotation in IPPE-III, I had similar opportunity to work with the patient…

By utilizing the information presented in this class, I was able to learn, apply and document via a written paper information on Erikson’s developmental stages and Butler’s Life Review. I was able to practice my interviewing skill during my interview of R.V. The take away I had with his interview is that it takes work to be successful and you have to have balance in your life. It may not come when you are at the peak of working or during education, but you must find the balance. I have enjoyed my time in this class and I will use he skills that I have learned and I will apply the information that I read as I enter into my practice as a nurse and hopefull as a nurse…

Contrary to popular belief, nurses have a lot more responsibility in care and monitoring of patients, other than just carrying out orders by clinicians. Nurses are on the front lines of interacting with the patients and monitoring health status and the effectiveness of interventions. Critical thinking, communication, assessment, and technical skills are all necessary for the success of nurses and the improved health of patients. It is important to always be aware of what is going on. As a student nurse, it can be hard to remember this, as the stress of carrying out multiple, sometimes first-time medical interventions can be overwhelming. It is easy to get distracted, forget information, and become anxious. I keep myself on track by keeping a list, practicing positive self-care, staying in constant communication with my preceptors and peers, and keeping the patient’s health and wellbeing the…
