Mrs. Lilly O’Connor
Customer Service Manager
Zara Corporate Office Headquarters
500 Fifth Avenue, Suite 400
New York, NY, 10110

Dear Mrs. O’Connor:

Please credit my Visa account to correct an invalid charge of $291.73.

On February 18, 2013, I bought through your Zara USA website two of the woman shoes. I purchased in size 6 both the Electric Blue wedge sneakers and the brown Studded Strappy sandals. Each item cost me $129 plus $23.78 for tax. At checkout, I specifically chose the 24-48 hours express delivery option that costs an extra $9.95. The shoes were to be delivered between the days of February 19th and February 21st, 2013. On February 21st, 2013, I alerted your customer service agent, Ms. Tina Lopes, about the late order and she promised that my shoes would be arriving the following day. However, the order did not arrive until 5 business days later, February 25th, 2013. When I finally opened the package, the sneakers and sandals did not satisfy my request. The Studded Strappy sandals came with two left feet and in size 9. Also, the Electric Blue sneakers came in black suede, with no extra laces, and in worn conditions. Additionally, I was not assisted regarding this order in your 580 Broadway and 750 Lexington Avenue stores. Time after time I have had poor luck reaching a customer service agent via email and telephone calls. Enclosed is a phone screen shot of the complete order, the confirmation email, and the statement charging $291.73 to my Visa account from Zara USA.

Please authorize a credit immediately and accept the return of the shoes in one of your NYC located stores. I am currently wearing my comfortably beautiful Zara USA Metallic Ballerina flats that my coworkers wish to order shortly. I am sure this was a once-in-a-blue mistake and that, as always, my coworkers and I will be receiving our future orders with great

There are several ingenious steps taken by Zara that proves both profitable and unprecedented. Zara has used technology to revolutionize their business, from buying the unprocessed cloth to determining which color die to use and what to make with that cloth. The technology process continues on the manufacturing lines and all the way to the final sale. But it does not stop there, it goes beyond the point of sale to question the reasons why a purchase was not made after a client expressed an interest in an item. The point of sale system provides real time data which is given immediate attention. PDAs are actively gathering information which is constantly been taken into consideration. The design strategy is another intuitive step. They do not follow custom catwalk fashion shows, instead they design based on customer demand. Manufacturing and logistics is a key contributor to their highly acclaimed success. The ability to have a product ready and on the shelves in ten days vice the competitor’s time of approximately three to nine month is where the strength of flipping their dollar lies and is accomplished mainly through vertical integration and technology orchestrated coordination of supplies. Deliver to replenish and deliver new stock is an expedited process, in some cases deliver is made overnight. Items placed on the shelves are readily picked up and nothing is ever marked down in a sale. Zara identify and manufacture the clothes customers want, get those products to market quickly, and eliminate costs related to advertising, inventory missteps, and markdowns…

    Zara It Analysis

Zara is a fashion brand that was founded in 1975 by Amancio Ortega, who believed that retailing and manufacturing must be closely linked to provide a speedy response to consumers’ demands. Unlike other fashion chains, Zara did not invest extensively with advertising and marketing to generate sales, instead, they set up their stores in prime locations. Zara’s selling strategy relies on fast turnover of their merchandise, aiming primarily at seasonal fashions. Their decentralised approach in decision making, allows store managers to make decisions on which items should be on sale, and which items should be replenished based on their experiences and feedback with local customers. The commercial team also observed local trends and communicated with store managers as to which line of clothing would sell, and so transferred those items to other stores where they would sell well.…

Zara’s product is a physical good; therefore place requires logistics decisions in addition to the design and manufacture of the product itself. Zara’s home base is Spain. It is there (for the most part) that their clothing line is designed, created, manufactured and distributed. As an aside, they have only two locations in Spain so should something happen surrounding these areas the distribution of their clothing would be greatly hampered. Zara realizes that the customers don’t care about the channel of distribution, what they do care about is the customer service level. Zara’s customers have come to expect store deliveries twice a week and will plan their shopping accordingly. If the channel didn’t deliver when expected, then the customer would be disappointed, therefore, this is extremely important to the overall success of Zara. Not only have the customers come to expect the delivery days, they also know that when the clothing arrives it is immediately ready to be placed on the sales floor pressed, tagged and ready for sale, and probably will not be replenished so they buy on the spot. Most of us as consumers are completely unaware of the logistics involved in getting products into the store for sale as it is invisible to us and only noticed when things go wrong. Zara’s customers enjoy very good service at a good price which is a combination that is hard to find.…
