Civilized Region During The 1820s

1. During the 1820s the ''civilized'' countries were identified this way because they shared the same religion, race, technology and a good economic development. After looking at the map, the civilized region was dominated by white skinned Christians wich was the religion of the European countries.

2. The creator of this map classified the barbarian, savage and and half- civilized because the people of this countries did not follow the Christian religion. Religion seems to be an important factor in the way of thinking of the creator or the people of this time.

3.The author felt there was a big difference between "civilized" and "enlightened". He might think that the enlightened countries had the industrial capacities and potential markets
