Civilization vs, Savagery
Most of the story, in Lord of the Flies is based on kids trying to remain civilized, sane, and in order but every day they come close to becoming savage.
Effects on the characters Ralph is trying his best to keep everything and everyone civilized by having rules and role by having other people in groups do things like hunting, building, fire signal, e.t.c.
Jack is in control of himself in the early part of the story but then gradually loses himself mostly when he hunts then comes back with nothing. Jack in the first part of the story kept saying they should call him by his last name (Merredew) as a sign as respect and importance. Later on in the story Jack becomes extremely ambitious about being the better chief than Ralph could ever be. …show more content…
Jack tends to go hunting a lot more after that which mostly makes his behavior a distant level of savagery by the way he kills the Sow they find. After a time of Jack killing the sow, Jack calls the kids to do their “Dance”. The kids start to form a circle yelling “kill the beast! Cut its throat! Do him! In” at something the middle of the circle. As the dance continued “The beast” Stumbled out of the circle trying to get away from the savages, but the savages pounced on the beast once again, stabbing, screaming, striking, and tore at the beast. Showing this that the Kids turned into savages and have to civilization left in them, following no rules, no plans on getting rescued of the island. The kids are mostly focused on killing and having their version of fun, turning their sanity into insanity making them
