abstract
Promotion of renewable energy sources is a widely adopted policy since they are accepted to positively contribute to ensure the security of energy supply, mitigate CO2 emissions and meet the increasing energy demand. In parallel with that global thought, wind energy has been a hot topic in Turkish energy agenda although the share of wind energy in total energy resources of the country is still low. In this framework, the policies and applications regarding wind energy in Turkey are examined, the short-term and long-term priorities are evaluated and some suggestions are provided in this paper.

The journey to find an alternate source of energy that is in accordance with past events and current trends in technology has introduced new methods for human beings to care for the environment and to protect earth’s natural resources. An alternate source of energy that this paper will be covering is wind power. This is not a new discovery but overtime it took a fresh and better tactic. History will reveal that hundreds of years ago, windmills were already use in Europe in wind farms with wind turbines in order to gain as much as wind energy as possible. This is an effective method in producing the maximum wind energy; however, there are pros and cons that one has to be aware with in this kind of alternative source of energy.…

Fossil fuels are having great impacts toward nature such as global warming and greenhouse effect. Plus, the depletion of it contributes to the rising price of petroleum. Therefore, wind power rise as it is a source of clean, non-polluting renewable energy (Nash, 2008). This type of energy generation provides us with loads of benefits environmentally and economically.…

Nowadays, some people who supported renewable energy have many questions for fully relying on renewable energy in the future. A factor why people do not consider renewable energy is economics. However, the fact is that renewable energy can solve many economic problems. Anna Leidreiter expresses that the benefits of traditional energy are shared in only a few stakeholders; renewable energy is owned by popular, so the big business do not agree renewable energy. If the benefits from the large enterprise can be shared to popular, a correct energy can transform, it was shown in the history. Also, Anna Leidreiter gives Denmark and Germany as the examples to show fully renewable energy. Finally, she suggests some policies are necessary to replace fossil fuel with renewable energy and countries should exchange the opinion with other countries.…

First off is the renewable energy source of wind power. Wind power is the conversation of wind energy into a form of energy that humans can use. Some examples of the forms of energy we use is the electrical power produced through wind turbines and the mechanical power produced by windmills. Examples of simpler forms are wind pumps that are used for draining and pumping of water, and also the wind caught by sails to push ships. Now people are using wind farms which are filled with hundreds of wind turbines that connect to an electric power transmission network. Research published by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (2011) found that this onshore wind is a cheap source of electricity, even cheaper than fossil fuel plants. Senior Research Scientist, and Founder of the Center for Life Cycle Analysis at Columbia University,…
