Civic Mirror Game Analysis

Given what I have experienced in The Civic Mirror game and what I have learned about the United States I think that government and politics are paramount to keep our society stable and running smoothly, maintain order, and give the people an organized voice through voting and representation. One reason that I think that government and politics are necessary is because they are the building blocks of our society. If we were able to maintain a balanced society, protecting natural rights and limiting absolute power there would be no need for government. However we know that in a state of nature these rights could be taken away and government will help us to avoid anarchy. Philosopher Thomas Hobbes once said, “The right of nature… is the liberty each man hath to use his own power, as he will himself, for the preservation of his own nature; that is to say, of his own life, we are all greedy and selfish.” Without the government, laws and politics people’s natural rights would not be protected.
