Parks and other protected areas of both Canada and the United States are very important to both of them. Parks in both of these places are there for the public to enjoy. It is a place where they can get away from things and enjoy nature. Not only do the people of Canada and the United States love their parks so do those from other counties. The mountains, deserts, prairies, rivers, and lakes draw people from all over. Since the first parks in Canada, their system as grown to include city parks, regional parks, provincial parks, and federal national parks and wildlife areas. City parks are managed by the parks and recreation department which is part of the municipal government. Professional managers and volunteers take care of the parks and taxes from land pay their salaries. Regional parks are usually ran by regional park agencies created by the provincial governments. Provincial parks are in every province in Canada. Some are bigger because they are in the wealthier provinces. The poor areas have to rely on the national government for their parks.
