Christopher Columbus was an experienced sailor.He Was born in italy 1451 in the republic of Genoa and he was known for finding the new world .He went on many different trips to Africa .In 1492 Columbus left spain in the Santa Maria with Pinta and the nina .He had been credited for opening up the Americas to Europe colonization. Columbus first went to sea as a teenager participated in several trading voyages in the Mediterranean sea and Aegean seas. One of the trips brought him the closest to Asia.His first trip to the atlantic ocean he almost died they were being attacked by french privateers of the coast of portugal. He swam to the shores of portugal and his ship was burned down.When he got to the shore he walked to Lisbon Portugal.Eventually
