Christmas Wishes
Christmas Day is the most awaited day and season of most children in the whole world within the whole year especially Christians because they celebrating Christmas day to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. In this season, all people are busy in attending Church services like “Simbang Gabi”, preparing foods, buying and wrapping gifts, having a reunion and many more. Because this season is time for giving, loving, bonding, and also respect. In terms of giving, gifts are always there like material things such as toys and clothes and also money but at my age now, I didn’t expecting gifts from my godparents or even family members because I’m already matured for that but still I have a Christmas wish-list for myself and even for my family and for the whole world. And this is what they are: First, for my family, I’m wishing that we still complete and bonded even though there is so many problems that are trying to break us. I’m wishing that each member of our family has a good health and in good condition. And also I have a wish for each of them. For my father, I’m wishing that he will stop drinking alcoholic beverages like beer and etc. and then he realize that drinking alcohol like that is would never be good for his health because I saw him at his bed and he massaging his nape maybe because it’s aching due to excessive drinking and sign that he is getting older or having a disease. So I’m wishing that he will realize that we need him so he will stop doing this vice. For my mother, I’m wishing that she will still stronger and have more patient to care for us because even though we are so naughty, she always there for us. When we really need her help like in money, she will find a way to give it to us like in my tuition fees, she always find a way to make me paid in my bill so that when I saw her lying in her bed and she looks very tired, I haven’t noticed that my tears are already flow into my nose because I feel pity to her. I love my mother very much and I will

Winston Churchill once said, “Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection.” As the big day draws near, it is important to reflect on the roots of the global holiday as well as the direction in which it is heading. Christmas is a tradition rooted deep in the history of western society. It has undergone many changes since it’s earliest celebrations. Even today, the holiday is constantly changing. Each year brings new innovations to Christmas. In the dawn of the holiday, it was minor and focused on the birth of Jesus, the light of the world. In the 19th century, Christmas was a time of family and goodwill to mankind. Today, though there still remains aspects of religion and selflessness, more than ever it has become a holiday consumed by commercialism. It is a development that is not likely to go way any time soon.…

The thrill of Christmas eve is followed by a nearly sleepless night full of curiosity and hope. Each and every child lays in bed wondering what will be under the tree on Christmas morning. Most kids have an idea of what might be received because of what was put on the Christmas list but there is always a few gifts not on the list that turn out to be a favorite of the receiver. Then again, there is always that one crazy great aunt that is seen once a decade at family reunions that sends a thoughtful but wacky and usually tacky gift that is laughed at more than used. The gifts received are almost always placed into categories by the child, or any recipient for that matter, the must have presents, the surprise presents, and the off the wall crazy presents.…

    Christmas vs Thanksgiving

Christmas is a kid’s favorite holidays for really only one reason: presents. We live in a society where materialistic things outweigh almost anything else. We would do almost anything to get the new iPhone, and we have an annual “buy as much as you can” day, also known as Black Friday. Christmas, unfortunately, has gone away from its religious origins and has been turned into the most expensive holiday of the year. Although I am sitting here trashing Christmas, I do still enjoy the snow and the decorations; who doesn’t? Snow sets the stage for Santa, and decorations make it all the merrier. Twinkling lights accompany almost every roof and dance in the cold winter gusts. The weather and feel of Christmas couldn’t be more perfect for the holiday; cold keeps us in the house and makes the fire feel all the more wonderful, while sugary treats and presents make our tummies and shelves feel good. Unfortunately for Christmas, my love for the day has diminished. I have grown up to see how selfish our society is during this time of year and now different we treat the holiday than it is actually supposed…

In the story “Overspending: A tale of Christmas Past Essay“ depicts the human nature of most of us in buying lots of stuff to celebrate a holiday like Christmas. We often times get excited to every holiday because of the things we see around us, like the displayed toys on the shelves, good decorations on commercial store, the time off to shop or even the thought of getting good shopping deals etc. There is always the tendency of being excessive during Christmas. Just like the common mistake parents do during holidays. They shower their children with so many gifts. Parents wanted to provide the best as they say. But, they are only showering them with a lot of material stuff, so plenty that at times they get so overwhelmed. The worst thing…

Sadly, we do not have the luxury of visiting our relatives every year but, we have gone twice during Christmas and New Year, and Christmas was celebrated quite differently. During these trips I learned a lot about my heritage and the importance of tradition. You don’t hear the words Santa Claus, and children don’t receive presents on Christmas Day. Instead, we celebrate Dia de los Reyes, or Three Kings’ Day which is celebrated on January 6th .This special holiday commemorates the three wise men who traveled a distance to bring gifts for the infant baby Jesus. Aside from this holiday, we also participated in las posadas, it is a reenactment of Mary and Joseph’s arrival in Bethlehem, performed just before Christmas. Young adults perform these reenactments as they ride on donkey in the rancho, searching for hospitality. Once they are turned away three times, the entire community gathers together at the local church for warm bowls of pozole and mugs of chocolate (Mexican hot chocolate). This reenactment is crucial to our tradition as it is performed several times leading up to Christmas. During my stay in Mexico and participating in all these holidays I learned that there is much more to life than receiving the most gifts during the holidays. My stay there taught me to be humble and to value the important…

    Christmas

I liked the cement mixer and played with it as much as or more than I played with the other toy vehicles I owned. At some point, several weeks or months after Christmas, however, my biological parents led me to believe that it was a magic and/or highly unusual cement mixer. Probably my mother told me this in a moment of adult boredom or whimsy, and then my father came home from work and joined in, also in a whimsical way. The magic—which my mother likely reported to me from her vantage on our living room’s sofa, while watching me pull the cement mixer around the room by its rope, idly asking me if I was aware that it had magical properties, no doubt making sport of me in the bored half-cruel way that adults sometimes do with small children, playfully telling them things that they pass off to themselves as “tall tales” or “childlike inventions,” unaware of the impact those tales may have (since magic is a serious reality for small children), though, conversely, if my parents believed that the cement mixer’s magic was real, I do not understand why they waited weeks or months before telling me of it. They were a delightful but often impenetrable puzzle to me; I no more knew their minds and motives than a pencil knows what it is being used for. Now I have lost the thread. The “magic” was that, unbeknown to me, as I happily pulled the cement mixer behind me, the mixer’s main cylinder or drum—the thing that, in a real cement mixer, mixes the cement; I do not know the actual word for it—rotated, went around and around on its horizontal axis, just as the drum on a real cement mixer does. It did this, my mother said, only when the mixer was being pulled by me and only, she stressed, when I wasn’t looking. She insisted on this part, and my father later backed her up: the magic was not just that the drum of a solid wood object without batteries rotated but that it did so only when unobserved, stopping whenever observed. If, while pulling, I turned to look, my parents sombrely…

As has been mentioned above, many of the interviewees think that to stay with their family on Christmas is the most significant thing. Although this attitude existed in the past, this tendency seems to be a more influential element, even for young people. The trend is somewhat of a reaction to the social change. It is likely that family size has shrunk in recent years. In addition, people may behave individually with a high standard of living. In short, it can be stated that there is less connection between families in daily life. Therefore Christmas provides the opportunity to reconsider the meaning of family relationships and to make the relationships more…

On Christmas holiday, I get a break from school and work, which makes it relaxing because all week I get to do fun activities, and I get to sleep a lot through out the day. During that week I make contact with friends, classmates, former neighbors that I haven’t seen for awhile. I take the time to go sledding, skating, cross-skiing, and other activities that I find enjoyable. Christmas time is all about caring and sharing, and every year I try to get my family and friends a gift that’s from the heart, these gifts include sleepwear, jewelry, clothes etc. I always set a budget for my Christmas gifts and I stick to it. One of the things that I like about Christmas besides having the time to relax and spend with my family is going Christmas shopping, it’s fun and when you at the mall you get to see all your friends there. The bad thing about Christmas is that there is too much to do and it’s the busiest time of year. Sometimes when this holiday comes around I have to worry about what to get certain people and how much I would spend.…
