Chris Mccandless's Determination
“He was determined. Real gung ho. The word that comes to mind is excited. He couldn’t wait to head out there and get started” (pg. 6). This quote is significant because it illustrates Chris McCandless’s character. Throughout the book, Chris shows his determination to reach his goals and to live life the way he wanted. Wayne Westerberg states “Once Alex made up his mind about something, there was no changing it” (pg. 67). Chris’s determination is exhibited in chapter four, during his canoe trip in Mexico, and all throughout the course of his journey to Alaska. He also shows his determination to cut off his parents from his life throughout his personal journey around the United States.
