Choosing a Career
There are a lot of different professions and it is difficult to make the right choice. The problem of choosing the right profession has always been very important. Our future depends widely on our job selection. So it is important to make the right decision. The properly chosen career makes a person happy and successful, whereas a wrong choice can make him/her dissatisfied with the future job and life.
I think that profession should be both well-paid and interesting. Also much depends on the innermost talents and interests of the person. Another important factor is the social environment. The profession of the parents often influences the future work of their children. Today there are dynasties of physicians, historians, lawyers and economists. But I think that only we know who we are and what we really want in this life. A person primarily should listen to himself/herself and not only to the recommendations given by others.
I do not know who I want to be in future. In fact, I hesitate about taking the professions of economist, lawyer and psychologist. In my opinion, a job should be interesting and socially important. That is the reason why I want to be a lawyer and a psychologist. These professions give plenty of opportunities to help people in their troubles and take care of them. Does anyone have a hard time choosing what career or job which they really want to do in the future? I personally have two jobs that I am considering right now: actuary and physical therapist. Actuaries basically manage risk. They help organizations plan for the future and protect themselves from loss. Physical therapists use a variety of techniques to improve mobility, relieve pain and prevent permanent physical disabilities in their patients. The reason why I am choosing between these two jobs is very much related to my past experience. Since my youth, I was influenced by my elder sister who is very good in mathematics. Due to her influence, I have a big interest in mathematics. I wish my future job will be related to mathematics, which is why I considered becoming an actuary. In addition, I love to watch dramas that are related to medical education. In fact, I just finished watching a Hong Kong drama named ‘On Call 36 Hours’. It is a medical drama. After watching that drama, I have the desire to help those injured patients to recover from pains and injuries. Although many might think these two jobs are very different, they have very much in common.…

I agree with Dorothy Sayer’s in her idea that some individuals only choose certain occupations because of the income or the status that they could gain. With our every increasing money focused society, it is hard to not consider income as one of the qualities of choosing a career. Although, it is important to look beyond those two characteristics. There are many careers that are essentially a service to others. I can only hope that my accounting mindset will be just that: a service to others. If my abilities, desires, and opportunities all aligned my life as an accountant would be perfect. I would see my dreams of becoming a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) come true; however, the title CEO would mean more to me than just a status. It would boost my inner confidence and reassure me that I can achieve my dreams with hard work and dedication. I think everyone should consider their jobs like the warriors did when fighting for our…
