Choolesterol And Steroids
What is cholesterol and steroids?? Cholesterol is a type of fat in your blood. Steroids are fake hormones that can improve strength and muscle mass. We all have cholesterol but only a little so they can help your organs grow. We all also have natural steroids to help us grow in many ways.

Having too much cholesterol can cause heart attacks and/or strokes. Having blood test can tell how much cholesterol you have in your body. There are two types of cholesterol in your body. HDL is a good kind of cholesterol it helps by removing blood vessels and putting back where they belong. LDL is a bad kind of cholesterol because it blocks the flow of blood by blocking arteries.

High blood cholesterol is a condition that greatly increases your chances of developing coronary heart disease. Extra cholesterol in the blood settles on the inner walls of the arteries, narrowing them and allowing less blood to pass through them to the heart. Aim for total cholesterol below 200 mg/dL; LDL cholesterol below 130 mg/dL and HDL above 35 mg/dL.…

You go to the doctor’s office to get your cholesterol checked and you are told that you have low cholesterol. You probably think that this is a good thing. What if I was to tell you that this is not a good thing? The low cholesterol that you have is your High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL). This is the good cholesterol. The one that protects against heart attack and low levels increase the risk of heart disease. It is also believed that HDL carries excess cholesterol away from the arteries and back to the liver, where it is passed out the body (LDL and HDL Cholesterol: What 's Bad and What 's Good?).…

Steroids come in a variety of way to be consumed: injected, swallowed, and snorted. These steroids build muscle to help one perform. Main steroids are HGH (Human Growth Hormone), anabolic steroids. All makes will make one stronger, all can end ones career. “Anabolic- androgenic steroids are synthetic derivatives of the male hormone testosterone” (Wadler). That’s just a nice way of saying anabolic-androgenic steroids make one stronger using fake hormones. Anabolic steroids are the most effective and have the worst long term affects. Anabolic steroids are so effective that they are prescribed by doctors to treat “malnutrition, growth disorders, and testosterone deficiency”(Wadler) Although most of these short term affects sound good, the long term seem to throw a juicy curve-ball back at you. Anne Marie Brooks, a writer for a weekly health magazine, states: “Muscles grow so rapidly that tendon or ligament damage results during physical activity. Instead of better performance, the user may face weeks or months on crutches, in a brace, in pain. “Ouch! That sounds like the negatives over rule the positives (of steroids) and anabolic steroids don’t sound so good after all. HGH which is a safer alternative of steroids is also used by a lot of athletes. “Human Growth Hormone is produced by the…

Anabolic refers to this muscle-building capability. Anabolic steroids should not be confused with catabolic corticosteroids, which are used routinely as anti-inflammatory medications to help treat illnesses in which inflammation is part of the disease process. Today, anabolic steroid use has become common to augment sports performance, and abuse of these drugs begins as early as middle school. Anabolic and androgenic steroids are available as prescription medications to be used in cases in which the body does not make enough hormone and supplementation may be required. Some hormone supplements in this pathway include growth hormone and testosterone itself. These medications are legally prescribed by health-care providers, but this group of drugs is often used illegally and abused to help increase athletic performance and improve body appearance. When used in a well-nourished body, anabolic steroids will cause weight gain primarily due to an increase in muscle mass. Drugs that cause an increase in body bulk by stimulating the production of protein, mainly in the muscles, but also elsewhere. They work inside cells, causing an acceleration of the processes by which amino acids in the cell fluid are strung together to form protein. Anabolic steroids are synthetic male sex hormone steroids such as ethyloestrenol, nandrolone, norethandrolone and stanolone. Their use may sometimes be justified to help elderly and underweight people to gain strength and they can be valuable in women with the condition of seriously weakened bones known as osteoporosis. Some of the anabolic steroids, being male sex hormones, cause development of male characteristics in women. This is called virilization and may feature hairiness, wasting atrophy of the breasts, enlargement of the clitoris, deepening of the voice and severe acne. Body-building enthusiasts and athletes widely use anabolic steroids to improve muscle bulk and…

For the past few years, it has been all over the media; athletes on steroids and how it should be dealt with (Rutherford). But as sports-fan and as a society in general, we can be hypocrites at best. We like to see collegiate or Olympic athletes break long standing records, being in the 100 meters dash, the high jump, or in swimming, but when it is done and over with and later we find out that it was done with the help of anabolic steroids, we want to crucify them.…

Anabolic steroids are drugs that include testosterone, the male sex hormone and estrogen, the female sex hormone. The word anabolic comes from the Greek word “anabole” which means to build up. It is pretty obvious to most that men tend to be larger than women. A clear-cut example between both sexes is the relative muscle mass. For men, the most important growth builder is testosterone, which is made from the cells of the testes. Approximately eight milligrams of testosterone is created daily, most of which is metabolized by the liver and excreted through the body in urine form (Budak). Testosterone is also present in the blood plasma of women, being derived from the ovaries and adrenal glands, in amounts roughly thirty times less found in men. Among the many effects of these androgens (male sex hormones), is the general growth on the body tissues and an increase in muscle strength. One of the main effects of anabolic steroids is to increase the number of red blood cells and muscle tissue without producing much of the androgenic effects of testosterone.…
