The Lack of Chivalry in Society In today’s society people are becoming careless about themselves and others around them. People are being self-centered, rude, and unresentful. There are problems in society involved within social media, law enforcement, and inside relationships. With the use of chivalry, we can prevent people from acting with this behavior; and solve society's problems.
People today are lacking respect without seeing it as a problem. They are lacking basic manners such as showing respect, and that is when bullying happens. Today cyberbullying is a huge problem. This is leading to all the marriages that are failing. According to Divorcerate.com, for first marriages in America the divorce rate is 41 percent. Second marriages in America have a divorce rate of 60 percent, and third marriages have a divorce rate of 73 percent. Numerous amounts of these divorces are caused by the lack of chivalry. People today in relationships show dishonesty, lack of trust, and lack of respect. Also people are lacking communication, and they are placing one’s desires before another. These are the major reasons why marriages and relationships are failing. Chivalry is needed in relationships for several reasons. Chivalry shows the respect, admiration, and love a person has for a significant other. Usually appreciation in the relationship can be taken for granted or overlooked. Respect is what strengthens the bond in every relationship. If people practiced chivalry again, many relationships would be saved.
