Chin The Use Of Aromatics In Ancient Chinese Civilization
China
Approximately around this time also (2700 BC) in Ancient Chinese civilisations the use of aromatics was prevalent. In fact, Shen Nung's Classic dated back to this time and it contains detailed accounts of over 300 plants and their uses. This is the oldest known text to give an in depth look at plants and their use in healing. Like the Ancient Egyptian civilisations at this time, the Chinese people took advantage of using aromatics in ceremonies where they would burn woods and incense as a sign of respect to their gods. This is still a practise that is still observed today. Aromatic herbs were also linked to healing treatments such as massage and acupressure during this time.
