Million children in the U.S. do not have health insurance. Their families can’t afford money to send them to the hospital. They might be homeless. The Children’s Health Fund provides healthcare to vulnerable children across the nation. Andrea Eaton, a single mother of five children, cannot afford to buy health insurance for them. Her children do not get full coverage because their mother earns 4 more dollars than the maximum salary to get full benefits, for Medi-Cal, a state-funded program. Also, Eaton’s son has a bad case of asthma. He has a rare form of asthma, and is more suspectible to get an attack. Andrea Eaton couldn’t send her children to a child state-funded medical program, because her children had both gotten pink eye, and were denied coverage for that reason. She states, “"The whole time I've had this, I've never taken my kids to the doctor once, because I can't afford it.” If Andrea Eaton had worked an hour less at her job, she would have been able to get full benefits. However, she has four children at home, so every penny matters. This is just one example of the struggles that children, along with their parents go through. Before they go to bed, they continuously worry about tomorrow, whether their children might get sick, or injured, etc. These parents have to be extra cautious with their children, because they might not be able to afford the expenses for an injured or sick
