Well that may be the case but not for the children who commit the crimes. Children should be tried a s adults because if they do adult crime they do adult crime, and it could have an affect on other children or kids that are thinking about committing a crime. “In evidence presented as an amicus curiae (friend of the court), the National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders (Nicro), scientific research shows that people under the age of 18 are less capable of "mature and socially responsible decision-making than adults." In my opinion they are wrong because if children are able to make choices they should take ownership for them and be tried like everyone else who makes mistakes. The reason why some say that children shouldn’t be tried as adults is because many big organizations agree or think this as well. In conclusion children should be tried as adults. The court also discovered that juveniles under the age of seventeen are more likely to be rehabilitated in comparison to adults which is why juveniles should not be offered the death penalty. It was argued by the courts that most juveniles cannot be fully blamed for their actions due to being so undeveloped. It was also argued that juveniles are more likely not to be deterred from committing a crime by being threatened with the death penalty due to the lack of cognitive skills they have in comparison to…

Many people around the nation have different views on the subject of juvenile justice. Some believe that despite the children's age, they should still be tried as an adult if a serious crime is committed. On the other hand, some believe children should not be tried as adult even if they commit a rather serious crime. I firmly that these children should not be sentenced to life in prison despite the serious crime that they have committed and should have another shot at life when their brain is fully developed.…

Depending on the crime that a minor has committed, a jury or judge should choose to try the person as an adult. For example, Lionel Tate, who was twelve, beat a 6 year old girl to death while wrestling. Lionel Tate is a person that Marjie Lundstrom used in her article; “Kids Are Kids - Until They Commit Crimes”. That happened because television had influenced a young boy. That doesn't make him a murderer, but yet he…

If a child commits a serious crime like murder, robbery, or arson, should they go to jail? For some time now, supreme courts point out that some juveniles who commit crimes should not go to jail. Others would argue otherwise. Someone who views an act of crime as simply an act of crime would agree that a child who commits a crime would not be a child anymore. The Supreme Court defends the juveniles attempting to justify their actions as naïve like, and that sentencing them to a life sentence without parole is unconstitutional. I believe in the minority group that argues with Supreme Court justices on why they should be sentenced to prison for long periods of time.…

Do you think if a juvenile was to commit a serious crime that they should be tried as an adult and sent to prison? In my opinion, I feel that even though a child has committed a serious crime they should be charged according to their age. If they're not considered as an adult when they have committed the crime they shouldn’t be tried as an adult. There are so many things that can happen to a juvenile while in prison. They won’t have what they need in order to help them…

At the ages of one to fifteen the murder would have to be a very clear intention of murder to try the child as an adult. No one person's crime is the same as another, therefore no one should be tried the same. Minors, depending on their situation could be tried as adults. Children going through adolescence have emotional instability, me being a child going through this phase represent an example. The way I might react to something is going to different than the way someone else would, this is because no two people are alike.…

Good morning/afternoon/evening. The negative position would urgently like to negate the resolution: Resolved - Kids should NOT be tried as adults. Let me being by putting forth the following definitions. A kid is an informal term for a child or young person, a child defined as a person under the age of 18 years old. An adult is denoted as a person who is fully grown or developed, that is, a person 18 years of age or older. To be tried is to be subjected to trial. Essentially, a kid being tried as an adult means that a person under the age of 18 years old should be subjected to governmental punishment. This is absolutely ridiculous. It is irrational and unreasonable to punish innocent and naive children as though they are fully grown and matured adults. This brings me to three primary contentions:…

Kids who commit serious crimes should not go scot-free. If society doesn't recognize them as adults until the age of 18, why do kids suddenly become responsible as an adult when they commit a crime? Children have as much business in a prison as they do a bar. Yet, twenty-three states have no minimum age. Two, Kansas and Vermont, can try 10 year old kids as adults.…

INTRODUCTION: There are many controversial topics we can spend hours talking about and have different points of view on. My favorite one is the one that argues if under aged kids should be tried as adults or not. This topic has so many different points of views that there will never be an exact answer on if children should be tried as adults or not. This topic is very interesting because every case is different, meaning that because there are different variables that led kids to get in trouble we can never say that all kids should be treated as adults because their level of crime is never the same. Viewing each case as its own is the only way that someone can decide on whether or not they can be seen as kids or adults, I don’t think this topic should be generalized into a yes or no. Of course, everybody has different views on things and in these next few paragraphs I will take into consideration different people’s opinions as well as why some people think this should be a firm yes or no.…

Should juveniles who commit adult offence like murder, rape and armed robbery etc. be charged or dealt with as an adult? The primary difference in dealing with a juvenile meaning a person that is 18 years or younger the goal is not to punish the juvenile, but rather rehabilitate, is that fair? Or is society as a whole are guilty and to blame for forsaking the future generation? The juvenile offences are skyrocketing at an alarming rate that it is hard to view the graphic and horrific crimes of the juvenile as being anything but civil or delinquent, especially when the juvenile is committing bloody murder.…

“Kids will be kids,” they said, but they stop believing that statement when a youngster commits heinous actions. I strongly agree with not sentencing juveniles or charging them as adults, they do not have the capacity of reasoning their actions. A brain is not at its full development at a young age. As for an adult, their brain has been through more development and should be mature and conscious of what is that they are doing. We are not considered legal yet until we turn 18; and it is for the same reason, because they expect us to be more mature of our actions. We know more, we know better, we are conscious of what will go on and if it is the right thing to do. It is not right either for these younger kids to do these dreadful crimes and I do believe they should be penalized for what they have done, but never be trialed as an adult or even be sentenced to prison.…
