Children are forced to kill each other , they are not given any rights and freedoms, and are taken away from their families.

First and foremost, most child soldiers are taken against their will to fight in a conflict. In his BBC article, Child Soldiers Still Being Recruited in South Sudan, Tom Burridge (A BBC correspondent) wrote about the recruitment process for child soldiers in South Sudan’s ongoing civil war. During his visit to South Sudan, Tom met with a few boys who have been child soldiers, and one of them was a boy named Stephen. Rebels closed in on Stephen's unsuspecting school while class was in session. “Stephen describes being frozen with fear as the rebel fighters took him and more than 100 of his classmates.” It wasn’t his decision or his classmates’ decisions to fight for the rebels. All violence and killing that they did were at the expense of the…

To illustrate, an article called “Kony’s Killers”, written by Samuel Okiror, says “[Child Soldiers] killed, maimed, mutilate, attack camps, abducted children, rape, slavery, torture and pillaging” (Okiror Para 2). This piece of evidence stated helps prove the claim, as it shows all of the merciless things that child soldiers have done. Criminals in America have gone to jail for a quarter of the reasons stated, yet there are still arguments whether child soldiers should be pardoned for all the crimes they committed. Additionally, another piece of evidence that supports the claim from an article written by Gregory Warner states, “… He forced many children to kill people” (Warner 3). This suggests how not only did the young soldiers inflict crimes, but forced other children to do it themselves.…

throughout the world. It is estimated that there are as many if not more than 300,000 child soldiers around the world. Since 2001 and as of 2008, child soldiers have participated in 21 on-going or recent armed conflicts in almost every region of the world. Ranging from ages of 8 to 15, child soldiers are raped, abused, and sometimes even sent on suicide missions if they haven't died from the hardship put on a child in the military. 40% of child soldiers are recruited by force and many times forced to kill their family so that they don't have anything to come back to if they escape from the military. Although many countries still practice the recruiting of children, I believe stopping this practice will cause benefits to society, child soldiers lives, and quality of the protection of the country that stops this practice.…

In 2010, there were over 200,000 children fighting in wars. 20% of those kids, were a part of government groups. After the war, the government turned around and said those kids need to be prosecuted. How would you feel if you were forced to fight and traumatized for life, then have to go on trial for something you never wanted to do in the first place? According to the United Nations along with other human rights groups, a child soldier is considered a child who is 18 years or younger fighting on the front line (Child Recruitment pg.1). Child soldiers are found all over the world except for North America. If these children ever get out of war, some may have to get prosecuted for the things they did while completely brainwashed. That is unfair considering most were forced into this terrible matter. Once the child soldiers get out of the situation they are in, they should be sent to rehabilitation centers to…

Once more, the three main icons key to helping child soldiers is we firstly need to be considerate and not let them wander off freely. Secondly, research must be done to find out how they feel about killing and what's going on around them. Are the passionate about such events, or do they despise them. And finally we must clarify what kind of state they’re in. Meaning the kind of schools in which they have been taught in. Are they being yelled at by a general, or simply being taught in a school. “In the last ten years, two million child soldiers have been killed, more than one million orphaned, more than six million left injured or permanently disabled, and more than 10 million diagnosed with psychological trauma” (Invisible Children). But that is only the beginning of this problem and it could get worse. Many young children find themselves in the army for various reasons. They commit many acts that are deemed as crimes. Some people think that they should be pardoned and some think otherwise. Even if people think that child soldiers should not receive amnesty, the child soldiers must be given amnesty because they are not responsible for their actions, they do not always have a choice, and because they have suffered a lot of pain and need help.…
