There are three main types of childcare settings that provide care and education for children, they are:
Statutory sector:
These services are provided free of charge apart from things such as school trips, uniform, school meals depending on the income of the household. Some of them are provided by central government and funded by taxation which we pay into. One of the statutory settings …show more content…
This could include for example their key person, a health visitor and their speech therapist. These professionals would meet on a weekly or monthly basis to discuss any changes that needed to be met to help the child’s progress and any improvements that had been made. For example they could track this in the child’s learning journey, and if the child cannot do something that they are expected to on the EYFS then the team of professionals would discuss a way to support the child and help them achieve this. Before multi-agency working was introduced the parents of the child or young person would’ve had to have seen a selection of different people before they had their needs met. None of which had communicated with each other which made it difficult to come to a final decision on what is best for the child. Multi-agency team working avoids this issue by congregating all the professionals in one place to come to the best conclusion possible. This gives the child the best opportunity to improve which meets the point of the Every Child Matters legislation. Meggit C et al 2012 highlights this by saying “Multi-agency working is a holistic approach to child care and education and is an important feature of the governments Every Child Matters framework” ref
