The Children and Families Act 2014 covers children and young people who have special educational needs. Section 19 of this act states that the local authority must take careful consideration of the views, wishes, and feelings of the child and their parents. It’s vital that the child and their parents participate as much as possible in any decisions relating to the child’s educational outcome. By providing the parents with all the relevant information and support necessary, enables them to understand the whole process and make informed decisions for the child.
