Chicken Gulch Analysis
Have you ever got to shoot a bunch of chickens in a valley? Well my dad has with some of his friends. The story of “Chicken Gulch”is one of his favorite stories to tell. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that story when my dad and uncle get together, talking about that or just guns in general because they are one of their favorite things. My now uncle got a call from someone who just wanted to get rid of around 30 no-good chickens, He was about to say no because he saw no need for them, but then he got a bright idea and told the guy that he would take them. He went and picked up the 30 or so chickens and put them in that back of his truck that was soon overflowing with caged chickens clucking and yapping like crazy as they went down the road and brought them back to his dad’s house which is just down the road from where he lived. He called my dad and a bunch of his other friends like Frank Stoner and a couple of others and told them to bring their guns because they were going to shoot some chickens, they all said they would be there as soon as they could because they were very excited. When they all arrived my uncle told them, “We are going to take these chickens down to …show more content…
They all unloaded on the chickens as they frantically ran around, trying not to be shot, eventually, they got all of them. They all were having the time of their lives yelling and screaming with joy of how much fun they were having shooting all of the chickens. By the time they were done, there was ammo shells everywhere, chickens parts all over the place, and feathers flying through the air. The people that lived somewhat close to where they were shooting must have been wondering what in the world was going on with all of those shots being

With the barrel of her musket propped firmly on the limb of a tree, Charity took steady aim at the deer. The medium-sized buck was grazing at the edge of a thicket of wax myrtles, near where she saw the deer tracks the day before. John and Uriah were squatting in the bushes behind her. She had brought them along to help with the bleeding out of the deer, should she kill one, and to help carry it back to camp. They could then dress it out and help her prepare the meat for making jerky and so forth. She also hoped to can some of the meat so that it would last a lot longer. She was glad that Nancy had shown her how and taught her how to preserve food in glass jars- it was much better than having to dry it all into tough leather strips… Taking careful aim, Charity squeezed the trigger, while saying a quick prayer that the bullet would hit its mark. She was worried that she wasn't close enough to the deer, but if she had tried to get any closer, it would have seen her and ran off into the woods.…

The chickenhead only understands wealth, greed, and self-pity. Some of them are hoodrats that make it out of the Inner-city and then turn their backs on the ghetto while others are the product of an overprotective parent that tried to keep them from learning ghetto tactics. They don’t get real love from the hood, though some of them still get love from their people still lost in the concrete jungle. They have some sense of the struggle and get offended when put into difficult situations. They panic when life gets sticky simply because they’re so used to so-called success. Chickenheads tend to act ghetto until it’s time for action. When s—t gets real, a chickenhead is nowhere to be found.…

She took down her daddy’s loaded rifle, rested it on the porch railing, and shot the squirrel right through the head from side to side. (1)…

Evil in its most general context is anything that is profoundly immoral and malevolent. In Green Gulch by Loren Eisley and The First Sin and Its Punishment; Genesis 3 the nature of evil has many characteristics and is shown to have a lot of consequences. Green Gulch is a short story about an isolated and solitary little boy who suffers from many severe repercussions due to his exposure to an evil and an immoral act. The First Sin and Its Punishment is a biblical reading about Adam and Eve and how they get tempted by the serpent into eating the fruit. Both stories reveal acts of evil in different ways; Green Gulch portrays evil as brutal, immoral and violent, while in the Genesis evil is described as manipulative, attractive, easy to commit, and pleasing to the eye. Both stories are similar in a way that the immediate consequence of evil is the instant loss of innocence.…

Many of the officers who first responded to the shooting at Columbine, were not properly trained for what they encountered. Two of the officers traded fire with Eric and Dylan. They eventually stopped because they knew they should wait for a specially trained team. This was shown not to be a smart decision, because by the time the trained team got into the building, Eric and Dylan killed ten of the thirteen victims. After the team entered the building, they took several hours going from room to room. In this time Eric and Dylan had turned their guns on themselves in the library (Columbine Tragedy 1). The killer’s motivation was key into the investigation of Columbine. Many school shootings involve a person targeting individuals who have bullied them or they did not like. Eric and Dylan wanted something much more than that. They wanted the entire nation to know what they did. The students and teachers were just “collateral damage,” as Timothy McVeigh described. They knew that if their plan was successful they would would be nationally known. “The killers, in fact, laughed at petty school shooters. They bragged about dwarfing the carnage of the Oklahoma City bombing and originally scheduled their bloody performance for its anniversary” (“The Depressive” 1). Their plan was made easier because of their gun supplier. Mark Manes supplied Eric and Dylan with the guns they used. He was arrested in May of 1999, a month after the shooting (Hasday 18). The story was already being viewed on local television within a half hour of the shooting. In the beginning, everything was a speculation about what happened. There were countless mix-ups in what really happened. Eric and Dylan had been disposing of layers of clothing. This made them look different, which caused witnesses to believe there were multiple killers. The news coverage became viewed by millions. The Columbine shooting became…

The tall grass prairie is an ecosystem native to central North America, with fire as its primary periodic disturbance. In the past, tall grass prairies covered a large portion of the American Midwest, just east of the Great Plains, and portions of the Canadian Prairies. They flourished in areas with rich loess soils and moderate rainfall of around 30 to 35 inches per year. To the east were the fire-maintained eastern savannas. In the northeast, where fire was infrequent and periodic wind throw represented the main source of disturbance, beech-maple forests dominated.…

This story exemplifies a young boy’s growth in moral education, as well as, his realization that there are consequences for his actions. Wright uses the title to foreshadow the bildungsroman theme in the story. Although the story strongly exemplifies a coming-of-age narrative, it also portrays a sort of coming-of-(r)age. Dave, the main character, is exhausted with society treating him like a child. “One of these day he was going to get a gun and practice shooting, then they couldn’t talk to him as though he were a little boy.”(1062) He believes that by purchasing a gun than he will be respected as a man. “Could kill a man with a gun like this. Kill anybody, black or white. And if I were holding his gun in his hand nobody could run over him; they would have to respect him.” (1065) After purchasing the gun, he hides it from his mother and lies to her about the gun’s whereabouts. This exemplifies only a fraction of his childish behavior. Dave then carries the gun with him as he goes to work for Mr. Hawkins in the field. While playing with the dangerous weapon, he fires the gun and it wounds one of Mr. Hawkins’s mules. When Mr. Hawkins learns about what Dave has done, he approaches Dave with an agreement on how Dave may repay him for killing his mule. However, Dave continues to feels that he is not considered as an equal to the adults. Later at night, Dave decides to carry his gun to…

Broiler chickens, luckily for them, only live up to 7 weeks old until they are big enough to be slaughtered. Their life starts out in incubator trays with hundreds and thousands of other chicks without enough head room to stand up, and not enough room to take 2 tiny steps. So for the first week of their lives it goes from cramp trays, to cramp boxes, to getting dumped onto the filthy floors of the factory farm. They don't clean the floors from the past chickens either. As the chickens grow the walking space gets smaller and tighter for the chickens. The chickens are selectively bred and are given special drugs in the food and water to make the chickens grow incredibly fast. Because of the breeding and drugs, a lot of the chickens develop leg problems which make is sometimes impossible to walk and stand so they either can't get to the food or they can't reach the water. Also, because of the ammonia in the feces, the chickens often…
