TITLE : MAKING CARROT CAKES

VENUE : Barangay Hall Dumayco, Peñarubia, Abra

DURATION : 1 day

IMPLEMENTING AGENCY: National Tobacco Administration Abra Branch

PARTICIPANTS : Tobacco Farmers’ wives

RESOURCE SPEAKER : Carmencita T. Bersalona

RATIONALE:

It’s a mandate of the National Tobacco Administration to improve the quality of life and uplift the living condition of the tobacco farmers.

During rainy seasons, farmers, especially the wives , worry as to where they get income for their daily needs. They have limited cash to give their children for allowance, fare , baon or merienda, etc. in going to school.

In this regard, as extension workers , let’s show our concern to ease them from being possibly rattled because of worries by introducing and teaching them some easy and simple ways and means of livelihood and income-generating projects.

Making CARROT CAKES is one promising livelihood program to help them.

This root crop ,being the main ingredient for the production of cake, is a known source of vitamins “A” and “E”. According to experts, this crop is also known for its being a detoxifier.

OBJECTIVES:

This training aims to provide these farmers’ wives a gainful knowledge and skills on making carrot cakes.

Specifically, after the training, the participants would be able to :

1. Become knowledgeable on Carrot Cake making, being an easy and fast source of income; 2. Appreciate that carrot is a nutritious main ingredient for cake production; 2. Radiate and impart the gained knowledge to nearby barangays ; 3. Generate more production for use in the locality; 4. Generate income aside from rice and tobacco production.
