Cheerleader Narrative
In high school, I was a varsity cheerleader at Crystal River High School. The cool breezy air on Friday nights, under the big football lights; Hearing all the fans cheer loudly, and watching the excitement on everyone's face. This was the most enjoyable 3 years I had in my entire high school career. Every year we looked forward to playing against our rival who we had beaten for 11 years straight.
Friday night lights is what my entire school looked forward to every week. Being a cheerleader, I got to see all the "behind the scene action" of the football players preparing for the big upcoming rival game. All the hard work and dedication they put into this one game; Training, conditioning, and all the extra practice hours. The Crystal River

This being my first time participating in "Lecantwin Hate Week", I went all out. I painted my legs, did not wear anything that was not school colors, hung up flyers, anything to get school spirit done, I did it. The day of the game especially.
4:30 PM came. That was when the cheerleaders had to be at the school to prepare everything for the game. 7 o'clock PM was when the game started. The stands were completely filled. All I could remember seeing was gold and blue filling the stands and even on the ground all around. The whole county was there for this one game. You could hear cheering throughout the whole game. The whole time, it was neck and neck. Scores were so unbelievably close. We would get a touchdown. Then the next play Lecanto got a touchdown. One after the other.
We were down to the last 7 seconds of the game. Score 20-14; of course, Crystal River was winning. We had this. We had no doubt our team was going to win. Then you hear the buzzer and all of Crystal River was silent. Lecanto beat us with a 45-yard pass that landed in the arms of one of their players in the end-zone. Making the final score, 20-21. Crystal River sat there with disbelieve. 11 years, Lecanto had lost to Crystal River. Until tonight, Lecanto

    Delta Rabbits Summary

Millard High School, like most high schools, has an extremely strong rivalry with its neighboring school, the Delta Rabbits. Maybe it is because of close proximity or maybe it is a fight for which team is the best in the county, but since the two schools started playing each other in 1926, tensions have always ran high in every aspect of competition. At any sporting event between the two schools, one can expect to see a gym, stadium, or field packed with the opposing colors of red vs blue. It is not just the players that make it such a strong competition. Fillmore is a town where you get those teachers who taught your mom, your dad, your grandpa, and all of your siblings. It is a generational fight for superiority that has been engrained in the kids. It is not uncommon to see grandparents, in yelling matches after games.…

Year after year, faithful collegiate football fans gather around the tailgate of their cars in parking lots around the nation and cook mediocre meals that taste delicious at the time because they share it with their fellow fans and season ticket holders. They all live different lives, but on Saturday, every weekend, they are the same, crazed fans that keep coming back to see their favorite team or Alma matter finish the day with a victory and so they can add one more to the win column of their record. Hopefully, they do not have to experience a loss and this year’s team goes undefeated, with a shot to play in the national championship and prove to the country, in one game, that they are the best college football team in America.…

The team would always get there an hour early so we could stretch and hit in the cage. We were noticeably the best team in the tournament. The coach of the team was a smart guy, he wanted to win but he didn’t want to embarrass anybody. This game didn’t really mean anything, and not to mention we were playing the worst team there.…

High school football in small towns like mine is a big deal. While I was growing up in Hugoton, Kansas, a town of about of about 4,000 people, the community was very supportive. Many people in my community knew me because I was a standout in football. I was a captain my senior year of high school, so I received the opportunity to help lead my team. At games and at practice, I tried to the of my best ability to motivate the younger players on my team to give it all they had. As a role player, I was expected to make big plays in the game. To an offensive and defensive lineman, big plays consist of making big time blocks for my team and getting off block to make tackles. My team and coaches relied on me to do so. I loved…

When the month of August rolls around each year, football fans alike rejoice, because a new season is about to roll around. In the South, we celebrate four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and football. Whether it’s by seeing shirts or by seeing flags fly on vehicles, most people in the South know when football arrives. Unlike A Christmas Memory, where Capote believes traditions will die off after a period of time, college football has continued its trend in the south for over 100 years. Maybe it’s the stadium entrances that send shivers down the spine, the tailgating that turns into an all-day event or the rivalries that can divide family, friends and co-workers; whatever a person’s tastes are, college football in the South has it all.…

It was game day and we were all playing in the Homecoming Game. It was exciting because we were the first freshman to play in the Homecoming Game. The day was short and we got out of school around 11:00 and was warm outside. After school, we had to go to the Homecoming Parade. The Parade was fun and we threw out bubble gum and some other kinds of delicious candy. A lot of our friends were at the parade and obviously gave them a lot of candy. For us the parade was about 15 minutes and then we took a yellow bus back to Hempstead before our big game. My pregame meal was Subway I had to walk and it was hot and I was sweating and it wasn't even game time. After subway, we arrived just in time to get packed up and then we took a bus over to our…

In my freshman and sophomore year I lived in South Korea, and attended Osan American High school. For two years at Osan I played on the varsity soccer team, we often had to travel far for the games, but there is still one game that I can not dismiss from my memory. Our first away game was a very emotional road trip for our new team, a group of girls just getting to know each other's strengths and weakness, on and off the field, the game was an hour away from our school on a friday and we were pumped. When we arrived the other team was twice our size and was already warming up, we were still dressed in our school clothes, and singing along to Taylor Swift. Our coach immediately told us to be prepared to lose, all eleven of us poured our hearts…

Every homecoming game at CHS is magnificent. Considering that this was my last homecoming game being a student of Clarksdale High. I truly valued and cherish every moment of it. Each homecoming maid was simply beautiful as they walked out on the field. I was overwhelmed with excitement seeing all of my friends dressed in their beautiful ball gowns. Each maid conducted themselves with such grace and class even after losing they still remained respectful. Throughout the entire game I was overwhelmed with excitement. The game was going great our players were up by nearly 30 points . The bleachers were filled with people who loved and supported our wildcats . So many familiar faces returned home and reunited with their old classmates and loved…

I remember that soccer game like it was yesterday. The entire season of our hard work and sweat would pay off in this final game. If we won, we got everything from bragging rights to the last spot in the highest part of the league we played in. The other team had scored in the first half, leaving the score 1 to 0. We knew if we were going to win we would have to find something to keep us going for that last five minutes.…

I remember when I was just a little girl, about the age of twelve, when I went to the Bedford Stadium and hundreds of people were scattered in the stands and at half time the announcer started to announce a bunch of girls names. I looked down to see a bunch of girls in long dresses march down the field with what seemed to be prince charming on their arms. After a while they all were down the field and the stadium would get quiet, and then the announcer would scream out a name and everyone would start cheering and the girl would start to cry, get flowers, and her picture taken. I looked at my mom and asked what was going on, she said she was just crowned homecoming queen. I remember saying back “I want to be homecoming queen!”…

A day I will never forget is the last football game of my eighth grade year. We the Saint Jo Panthers were undefeated, and we were playing the Wild Cats, who also were undefeated. The game started out slow with neither team scoring their first three positions. The Wild Cats drew first blood with a long touchdown. They went for the two-point conversion, since I knew what play they were running by the way they lined up, a quarterback draw, fake, pass. I was able to stop them. The Wild Cats scored a field goal before we finally scored a touchdown. We did not make our two-point conversion, so at half time; the score was Wild Cats nine, Panthers six. No one scored in the third quarter. Then early in the final quarter, the Wild Cats scored another field goal to make the score twelve to six. Coach Seymour was upset, and he pulled us to the sidelines. Coach put me back at guard, and Benny Sour at center. He told our quarterback Curtis Gulf to run quarterback sneak every play. Therefore, we ran the quarterback sneak every play and scored a touchdown. We did not have a good kicker, so we went for the two-point conversion again. The Wild Cats knew right where we going but could not stop the quarterback sneak. We won the game fourteen to twelve, so the way we won the game was one I will never…
