CheckPoint: Management Structures

There are several ways in which to organize a counseling center for victims of domestic abuse. Organization by departmentalization is a model in which the agency is broken into subgroups or departments according to process, market, program, or client and consumer needs. The most effective organization by departmentalization would be to break up the departments according to program. Victims of domestic abuse may need different programs in order to get their lives back on track. Some may be in need of counseling while others need help finding a new place to live or need help with job placement. The downside to organizing a counseling center, by program is that the counseling center may offer only a handful of services and would need to refer clients to outside organizations. If the agency did offer other programs, the victim may feel that they are overwhelmed with their options and may go back to their previous situation.

However, being that counseling centers are usually small, there may not be a need for more than one or two supervisors at any given time. The Project Team Model of organization may be well suited for a large counseling center as well. If the counseling center offered medical exams, the medical group would be considered a team. If the counseling center offered housing, the staff members who deal with housing would operate on their own team. The problem with the Project Team model is that it increases the number of people who have access to records and may make the idea of getting counseling for domestic abuse, uncomfortable. Victims of domestic abuse may not want to relay their information to different teams of people just to get the help they

In scenario one the prevention level being used is the Primary level of prevention. The reason I believe that this method is being used because the services offered through the agency are ones to prevent the abused women from being depressed and leading to other psychological disorders. In this particular scenario I wouldn’t do anything different, I think that the agency has a good plan in effect for dealing with potential hostile or violent situations. Instead of confronting the husband trying to talk rationally with him and defuse the situation while alarming the authorities is the best route for dealing with a person like that. In the case of the wife the programs offered through the agency promote self-worth and help prevent her from feeling bad about herself. Learning new job skills and healthy ways of thinking about oneself should prepare her for an independent lifestyle to provide for her and her children.…

How does this client manage sexual abuse, child abuse, delinquency and crime? None of these must be taken lightly. If a child is bullied, the social worker and the police will be included. The social worker will is required to visit the victim and his or her family. If abuse is proven, therefore, the child will be terminated from the house and placed in a foster home. The parents will now lose custody and be charged with child neglect in the appropriate procedures. Sexual abuse is also gravely serious. When a report regarding sexual abuse happens, the police are also included. The criminal is charged and arrested into custody. If it is a child, they can be provided advice, counseling and regular checkups. Crime is also managed in a common way. The courts and police will be included, therefore the time is provided to the person who committed the crime. It revolves on the graveness of the crime itself. This system also offers delinquency prevention classes and organizes funding for the classes (Macro Practice In Social Work,…

Companies have benefited from implementing self-directed teams. Unlike the name implies self-directed teams cannot just go out there and do what they want. There are rules and regulations, which self-directed teams need to follow. These teams will do many of the functions the supervisor formerly would perform, such as scheduling, duty assignments, and quality-control improvements or resolve any difficulties within the group. Self directed work teams are accountable to one another. They are interdependent, goal oriented and multi-skilled. ("MMS Online")…

The discrimination model of supervision developed by Bernard & Goodyear, (1998) has three primary focus areas in training novice counselors these include use of intervention, what the supervisee is doing in the session that is observable, conceptualization or how the session work is being conducted and the level of understanding the supervisee has regarding client themes and application of specific counseling session interventions, and personalization, the supervisors own approach or method. This model embeds three essential supervisory roles, teacher, counselor and consultant in providing effective supervision. The teacher's primary role is to provide the supervisee with instruction in learning techniques and direction to ensure supervisee development in clinical work while also recognizing that client wellbeing is paramount in sessions. The counselor role is to assist the supervisee in identifying personal needs, developing self awareness and addressing performance anxiety which potentially interferes with good practice, and as a consultant who engages the supervisee in a collegial manner in identifying and considering different approaches in treatment planning.…

IPv6 uses 128-bit hexadecimal addresses and has built-in security and QoS features. An IPv6 address is 128 bits rather than the 32 bits in an IPv4 address. This length increases the number of possible addresses from about 4 billion in IPv4 to 3.4 x 1038 addresses (that’s 34 followed by 37 zeros!) in IPv6. Unless IP addresses are assigned to every star in the universe, it’s safe to say enough IPv6 addresses will be available.…

Skills are not specified to form a team either. Two or more individuals that can collaborate and have skills that will complement each other and are working towards a specific goal can make up a team. Work groups are groups of individuals that work interdependent of each other and must rely on each other for a common goal. Work groups are the traditional work unit or department groups with a supervisor who plays a strong role as the boss. Almost everyone has had some experience with this work setup, especially in a first job. Each person in a dependent work group has his or her own job and works under the close supervision of the boss. The boss is in charge and tells the employees what the job entails and what is expected. The supervisor is the facilitator and delegator helping each other and covering for one another is uncommon and done under the direction of the supervisor. Tasks such as problem solving, work assignments, and other decisions affecting the group come directly from the supervisor.…

    Essay On Ambiguity

Conflicts carry incredible emotions and these emotions need to move the group members forward to a meaningful discussion. Once a conflict is dissected and solved group members will feel a sense of group cohesiveness. The group members will feel they have accomplished something together, as a group (Corey, et al., 2010). Ambiguity does not always have to be seen as a negative part of counseling. Having aspects of counseling open for interpretation is an excellent way for group members to exercise their minds and come to an understanding on a topic. It is essential the group leader recognizes ambiguity and explores the depths of it and the meaning for each group member (Levitt & Jacques, 2005). Group leaders and group members will be faced with challenges throughout the group process, which is why it is essential to resolve any conflict and ambiguity that…
