1. Evidence is important because it is the foundation of a scientific theory and explains facts, laws, and reasoning of the theory. Theories can then lead to hypotheses, which can be tested to be proven correct.
2. A theory is an explanation of facts, laws and reasoning that is backed up by evidence and observations gained during experimentation. Darwin’s theory of natural selection is an example. Hypotheses are formed from questions or predictions roused by a certain theory. For example, in 1900 H. L. Bolley, using the theory of natural selection, formed the hypothesis that if he further bred the seeds of flax plants that did not die in the presence of a certain fungus, they would survive. Sure enough, his hypothesis was correct.
3. The theory of natural selection states that different members of a certain species are born with unique and distinct characteristics. These can either be an advantage or a burden. If they helped that particular member used it to survive it would then mate and pass the trait down to its offspring.
4. If these characteristic are continually passed down, then they will eventually evolve the species until they eventually become they can no longer mate with members of their original form, thereby becoming their own species.
5. Lamarck’s theory states that animals using particular muscles in daily life will strengthen these muscles and would therefore pass the strength they had gained to their offspring. Darwin’s theory states certain members of a species are born with unique characteristics that they will pass down to their offspring and will evolve the
species.

Evolution by natural selection: This theory came about as a result of Charles Darwin trying to find an explanation for “why there are so many different living beings on earth?” (Pruitt, N. L., & Underwood, L. S. (2006). His theory contains two parts, the first part states that species change over generations. The second part states that what causes this change is natural selection.…

The history of evolution dates back in the 16th century during the pre-Socratic Greek philosophers who thought that all natural things both dead and living as being imperfect fixed natural possibilities and had an intended role within the environment. The greatest breakthrough in this understanding came with the theory of natural selection mechanism which was formulated by Charles Darwin. In the 19th century, modern evolution synthesis merged the understanding…
