Born on November twelfth, 1934 In Cincinnati, Ohio, many people remember Charles Manson as the convicted serial killer who had become an icon of evil. In the late 1960’s Manson founded a hippie cult group known as “the family”, who he had manipulated into brutally killing others as a product of his madness. Manson was blamed for killing over nine people. Manson’s insanity could be seen as a product of lack of parenting from his parents, his brutal drug addiction, and the failure to launch his music career. Between his deep feelings of abandonment, and the lack of a family love he so desperately always wanted it is evident Manson had created his own family, not a family with the

Manson was had been the mastermind behind four attacks. First was the Crowe shooting, “The family” had been on the search for some drugs, Manson was lead to a black drug dealer names Bernard Crowe, in believeing in the Helter Skelter theory Mansons Family took action and shot/killed the man. Next was the Hinman murder, Manson had been suspicious that a fellow neighbor of his named Gary Hinman had stolen some money from him. Manson sent over a few members of the cult to go get the money and when Bobby wouldn’t cough it up, Manson had retaliated by keeping him hostage for two days full of tortue until finally a member had stabbed him to death. After that came the tate muders, the most famous of Mansons groosum work. On the night of August 8, 1969, Charles "Tex" Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Linda Kasabian were sent by Manson to the old home of Terry Melcher. Their instructions were to kill everyone at the house and make it appear like Hinman's murder, with words and symbols written in blood on the walls. The four did as they were told and brutally killed Steven Parent, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, Sharon Tate and Sharon Tate's unborn child. Manson had planned to make this infuriate the whites so that they would retaliate against the black and quite possibly his Helter Sketler theory may have came true. Each of the “family” members were later convicted all though that subject would be up for debate whether Charles was actually guilty or not. After all was said and done after a misserable childhood full of quite possibly the worst family structure possible, the hard come up of mischief and rebelliance, the drug addiction, and the unsuccesfull attempt at making it as a rock star Manson did in fact have a hard life but it was no reason to lash and do what he did. Till this day I believe Manson had gone nuts since the day his mother didn’t want him anymore and he was looking for a “family”

James R. Hoffa, also known as Jimmy Hoffa, was an American Labor Union leader of the teamsters who went missing in 1975. To this day, no one has any knowledge to where his body might be. Hoffa was very high in the rankings in his mid-twenties with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters is still active today. They are a labor union group that represents a diverse membership of blue-collar and professional workers in both the public and private sectors. From 1958 to 1971, Hoffa became the general president of the National Brotherhood of Teamsters. Hoffa needed help with muscle and money for the Teamsters for their strikes so he turned to the Italian mafia for help. The Detroit mafia was who he got help from. It is believed that Tony Zerilli had something to do with Hoffa. During these years as president of the Teamsters, Hoffa was convicted of jury tampering, fraud, and attempted bribery. He was jailed in 1967 and was then sentenced to about 13 years. He resigned from presidency of the teamsters in 1971 in order to accommodate the agreement made with Richard Nixon. Nixon made it clear that Jimmy Hoffa could not be affiliated with union activities until 1980 which was when his 13 year sentencing would be over and done with. Hoffa had…

This book offers a huge amount of detail regarding how the Manson Family murders were committed, how the investigation proceeded and how the trial against Manson was won. To bring this history to life, Bugliosi organized his book into chapters ranging from one month to five month increments which serve to place the reader back in the summer of ’69 right after the Tate murders were committed, and take him or her all the way to the conclusion of the trial and its aftermath. While this level of detail and careful organization is very good at…

The zodiac killer may be dead, in prison or out there living his life as a free man. All the killings that were supposedly committed by the zodiac killer may not have been by the same person, and this suggests that there were more than one killer. The publicity that the Zodiac killer developed in the period 1968-69 could have encouraged a rise of other killers who would impersonate the original killer. However, there were letters after most murders, and these letters were written in the same hand. However, this does not nullify the possibilities of a second killer.…

Watson, Fromme, and Van Houten, the three killers present in the LaBianca and Tate murders, were all individuals that exhibited particular strains of social deviancy that Manson was able to prey upon. Van Houten, for example, experienced heavy drug use and had an abortion at a young age, Fromme became heavily involved in marijuana use and fringe political movements, and Watson committed burglary often at a young age. Watson, in particular, became “immersed into criminal activity and surrounded by people with favorable attitudes toward deviance” (Atchison and Heide 791). Desperate for a value system that made sense to his own worldview and his experiences, Watson would be easily seduced by Manson into the latter 's Family, merging their two philosophies of life into a single entity where only Manson 's orders mattered. Van Houten 's poor relationship with her parents and her social shunning as a result of her abortion led her to find a warm and inviting community in Manson 's Family, allowing her to “become one with the Family and to let her former identity go” (Atchison and Heide 792). This ability to recreate one 's own image and identity along views that Van Houten deemed correct created a hold on her that Manson could…

Born to Kathleen Maddox the hospital he was born in dubbed him ‘no-name Maddox” because his mother was unmarried and his father was not present. Since his mother had been married to William Manson he was given that surname. Though in 1936 a paternity judgment was called on a “Colonel Scott” (who was ordered to pay Maddox $30 per month in child support and did not comply), Manson later claimed his father was the “jailhouse” (Bravin, p 49). In 1939 his mother was convicted of armed robbery and sent to prison at which time Manson was sent to live with his aunt and uncle in West Virginia. His uncle thought that young Charles was a sissy and forced him to wear girls clothing on the first day of school. When Manson was eight his mother was released from prison and he was sent to live with her and her various boyfriends and sometime girlfriends. At age twelve he was sent to the Gibault Scholl for Boys in Terre Haute, IN presumably because his mother’s newest lover considered him a burden. After only ten months at the school Manson ran away and stole a bicycle and some cash to rent a room. After a second burglary he was sentenced to Juvenile Hall in Indianapolis. During his incarceration at Juvenile Hall he escaped and was recaptured and then sent to Father Flannagans’s School for Boys after being mistaken for a Catholic. Four days into his stay there he and another ward stole a car and drove to Illinois. He was thirteen years old. After several more robberies he was apprehended and sentenced to Plainfield Indiana’s School for Boys. Here he was first raped and it is believed that he would burn himself with cigarettes and push needles into his body to help build up his pain tolerance. He succeeded in escaping eighteen different times from the Plainfield school and finally in February of 1951 broke out again with two other wards and stole…

Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio. His mother, Kathleen Maddox, a 16 year old girl was an alcoholic and prostitute. She later married William Manson. The marriage did not last. So, therefore he ended up being placed in a boy school. Since his mother didn’t want anything to do with him, Manson was soon living on the streets and getting by through petty crimes. “By 1952, Manson was soon spending more time in prison. In total he spent more than half his life, 17 years, incarcerated. He was noted for being a `model prisoner’ (Bio).” A model prisoner means good conduct while incarcerated. They also said they watched him bring dead animals back to life (Rothman 3). This is a pretty intense accusation to make about someone, but considering these people worshiped the man & thought of him as a God nothing is entirely impossible. He used sex to control his people (Cannon 8).At one point in their lives, all of these people were just normal people, living their own lives. Once they came into contact with the monstrous Charles Manson it changed them forever. They were doing things they never would have thought of doing in their normal state of mind. They had them taking other people's lives and they had no feelings about it at all, That’s not normal human behavior, we aren’t made to brutally murder each other. He made these once innocent people into monsters like him, and even though Manson has been locked away for many years, He still has an influence on some of these people today. Not many people understand, but some things just aren’t meant to be understood. He was just a very manipulative individual. I mean, doesn't a person have to be to convince other human beings to brutally murder another? People believe his motive for the crime was to turn the whites against the blacks. He wanted people to believe there was a "violent black uprising" (Rothman…

As a result he has been put down into the history books as a madman and the embodiment of evil.
