Just look around- tessellations are everywhere!…

In his first trip to Mexico, in 1934, Henri Cartier Bresson is a country that is a paradox, a land where the past and present coexist dimensions offering surreal scenes. The photos on their second trip to Mexico, in 1963, also reflect this impression of a new supernatural world. The real and singularly spooky inhabit the region. Upon returning to meet the Mexican people, reconfirmed what had caught his attention: the people, their spirit and their deep attachment to rites and traditions. The children, street vendors, prostitutes, are photographed in stunning clarity despite seeming dream characters.…

Tessellations are arrangements of closed shapes that completely cover the plane without overlapping and without leaving gaps. The shapes that usually make up a tessellation are polygons or similar regular shapes. An example of a tessellation could be the square and or rectangular tiles that cover a floor. Escher, however, was interested by irregular tessellations as well and took special delight in what he called “metamorphoses, in which the shapes changed and interacted with each other, and sometimes even broke free of the plane itself.”…

As a child, my afternoons were filled with fun activities, whether that be classes in swimming, horseback riding, and gymnastics, or just sitting on the couch reading a book that was just released. Subjects such as college and AP classes were far from my mind. Sure I cared about doing well in school, but my concerns revolved more around the fun activities I planned outside of school.…

I download all the material (eBooks) from the university Of Phoenix online library. Particularly the chapters that are required for the particular week. I then look over the information to get an idea of the week’s subject matter. I then research the week’s discussion questions and then read the section(s) that deal with each question. I will print out pages and highlight the important information that pertains to each of the questions, on both the printed and digital copies; this will assist with future references. All this is accomplished each and every Sunday as I work as an Active Duty Airman Tuesday to Saturday, that way I am ready for the week and class work come Monday.…

When I am not doing any of those things, I prefer to read or play video games (I am currently hooked on "World of Warcraft"). I mostly read Newsweek and Reuters.com for current events. "Fun" reading usually consists of novels of various subjects. I am waiting for the fifth installment of "A Song of Fire and Ice" series by GRR Martin and I Just finished Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Friend which was hilarious. I am also an avid coin collector (although my financial situation is requiring me to reconsider the "avid" portion) focusing on United States and Ancient (pre- Byzantine Roman and Middle Eastern preferred) Coinage.…

I like reading very much. One of my favourite writers is Gilbert Keith Chesterton. You should know him, in our 4th year we read 2 stories by Chesterton: The Tremendous Adventure of Major Brown from the collection of stories The Club of Queer Trades (about the agency which provided its clients with adventures), and The Blast of the Book from the famous cycle about Father Brown (about the false “mysterious disappearance” of 5 men invented by the clerk of Professor Openshaw).…
