John 10: 14-16 explains the difference between the Shepherd and a hired servant. The sheep do no recognize the voice of the hire servant and will run away from danger, however; the Shepherd will give his life for his sheep. Christ explains to us that He is a good Shepherd, He knows us and we know Him because we recognize His voice. Christ did not run away from Calvary, danger, but rather yet, he gave His life for us.
