Hamlet Dramatic Irony Assignment
The three dramatic irony I picked from the play are when everyone in Denmark thought Hamlet was crazy but the audience, Horatio, and Marcellus knows that he is pretending, Claudius thought Rosencrantz and Guildenstern would be able to bring the letter to the king of England executing Hamlet but the audience knows that Hamlet was able to change the letter executing his two backstabbing friends, and Hamlet thought he was having a normal sword fight with Laertes but the audience knows that Claudius made Laertes have poison on the tip of his sword to kill Hamlet. The two characters I picked in each dramatic irony are Hamlet and Horatio, Claudius and Hamlet, Hamlet and Laertes. In the play, as Hamlet is went crazy the audience would consider Hamlet being sympathy because even though he is pretending to be mad, they feel bad that his uncle killed his father and his lovely one Ophelia broke his heart. It develops character because these characters are changing his/her personality as Ophelia obeys her father and Hamlet pretending to be mad. This part is important because it also develop conflict between the two relationships they had previously. Horatio is the type of person everyone would like and want to be as he is an excellent person and a true friend to Hamlet. There would be no developing character and conflict in this example because Horatio stays the same throughout the play being normal and does not cause any problems. In the second dramatic irony that I picked was when Claudius sending Hamlet to England for execution. This is very antipathy for Claudius, as the audience knows that he is the evil, dishonest, and murderer. In this part the audience feel sympathy with Hamlet because he did not know that he was going to get executed in England at first. It develop character in this scene as Claudius feels comfortable that Hamlet...
