Character Development In 'The Cask Of Amontillado'
In this assignment for English class, I explained how a character’s development in the short story The Cask of Amontillado, written by Edgar Allen Poe, develops a story’s plot. In the short story, the evil protagonist, Montresor is trying to kill Fortunato because of Fortunato’s continuous insults. The driving question for this essay is: How does a character’s development develop a story’s plot? My thesis statement is my response to the question. I used textual evidence to support my argument.

    Is there really a perfect crime? This is the main point in Edgar Allen Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado." The story is a dark tale of a presumably insane man who suffers from, according to him, "the thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could" (Poe 75). One of the major factors in telling this story is the setting.
