Character Analysis: The Man
The Man in the story does not help anyone they come across. The Boy always argues, and wants to help people they come across, but The Man is older, wiser, and knows that they could be set up, and does not want to risk his son's life for anything. They Man and Boy had come across a man who had been limping, they saw him from afar, and decided to follow him. They had followed the man for a while, until he had fallen to his knees, and did not get back up. As they walked by the man on the ground, they noticed he was burnt, and one of his eyes was melted shut, he had been struck by lightning. The Boy thought about this man for a while, and was crying wanting to help him, but the older and wiser Man said that there was no use, he was going to die no matter what. (Cormac 25-26)
The Boy always asked questions about who was the good guys, and who was the bad guys. The Man always told him that they were still the good guys, and that wasn't going to change. The Boy asked the man what made the bad guys bad?, The Man told him that the bad guys are the ones that eat anything, dogs, cats, even people, so because they did not do things like that, they were the good guys. The Man found a crowbar, and broke the door open, it was pitch black; the Man got out his lighter, and walked slowly. He looked in the corner and saw an old bed with naked woman children, and a man sitting on it. The man had no legs, and his stubs were burnt, the room smelled of burnt skin. The man started to crawl after them, begging for help. The Man yelled at the boy to run, the Man pushed the boy up the stairs. The Boy reached to the top, and froze, out the window was a group of 4 bearded men approaching the house. The Man threw the Boy over his shoulders and ran for his life. (Cormac

Krakauer wrote that Chris McCandless was, "green, and he overestimated his resilience, but was sufficiently skilled to last for sixteen weeks on a little more than his wits and ten pounds of rice"(Krakauer 182). In this quote it seems that Krakauer thought that McCandless was well equipped with his skills, so that made moderately prepared to survive in any situation. I feel that McCandless was rather prepared, yet again he never could have been fully prepared for the unexpected. My opinion is that McCandless was vaguely aware of the struggles that he would encounter in the Alaskan wilderness such as his epiphany that "happiness is only real when shared" was realized when his body was dying of starvation. I believed that he found what he was…

As analysis is conducted into the characters of both Chief Bromden and Randle McMurphy, it is easy to conclude that both have characteristics and preform actions that can be considered heroic. Physically both Bromden and McMurphy are huge. But, unlike McMurphy, Bromden does not have the self-confidence to match his gigantic exterior. This contrast in personality is due to the idea that Bromden has constantly been maltreated for the entirety of his life. McMurphy, on the other hand, refuses to be brought down because of his indomitable spirit.…

Many teachers have been an influence in my life, especially in high school and college. However, my 10th grade English teacher, Mr. Weinstein, has helped me more than he will ever know. I’ve always had an intense passion for writing. I thought I was the absolute best writer I could ever be; there wasn’t one flaw in any of my writings. Mr. Weinstein did not agree with my cocky attitude towards English. He thought I was a good writer, but I could always be better which is why he had no shame in giving me a B on a paper when I thought I deserved an A. In the beginning, this irritated me and I did not appreciate how “rude” he was towards me. I did not think he knew what he was talking about nor did I believe he was a good teacher. He constantly…

However, an instinct reared him back up, discarding the burden off of him into the cold, hard ground which he moved upon. The man turned to face his assailant, and saw a small boy, whose eyes widened. The man rose to his knees with what little strength he possessed and began to yell at the kid, only it came out sounding like a low, horrible groan. As the man shook his fist, the boy, terrified, ran…

The Misfit in the story "A Good Man is Hard to Find" is an interesting character. The Misfit was looked by others as if he was the violent character who truly didn't have any morals, but I disagree with that. The Misfit gave the story a lot more meaning. I don't think The Misfit cared about much because he simply didn't know what he was meant to do in life and his motivation was just finding what he wanted to do. I don't think he cared about killing people because he didn't care about life itself, "It's no real pleasure in life." pg.15,…

But the brave boy didn’t want to die. He made up his mind that he would survive. Somehow, to the amazement of the physician, he did survive. When the mortal danger was past, he again heard the doctor and his mother speaking quietly. The story opens with the boy, whom to this point had ignored his mothers coughs, drops everything to rush to her aid as she "collapsed into a little wicker armchair, holding her side". (O 'Connor 206) As he watched his mother struggle trying to light the fire he told her, "Go back to bed and Ill light the fire". (206) Now to this point, as the reader, I am unsure of the age of the boy, but I get the impression that he is a young boy. My idea of this boy is that he tries to take on too much throughout the day and eventually it was the demise of the opposite sex that eventually caused the meltdown of the "awesome" little boy. This is certainly something that will happen again to this young lad but he has definitely learned his lesson this time.…
