Character Analysis: The Color Blind

Felix is the protagonist and Cyryl is the antagonist. They each have differences and comparisons. For example they both fear nazis they both scared because they could kill Felix and the Nazis have power over everybody so if Cyryl said something and they don't believe him they usually beat him up as a punishment for lying. Their differences are that Felix feels bad for the jewish people that get executed and Cyryl doesn't care since he hates them. “Jew! Oh,no. He wanted Felix to join his gang but when they said they needed to make sure he wasn't a jew Felix did not accept. So that caused Cyryl to believe that he is jewish. Also When Genia and Zelda were taken away by the nazis, Cyryl was the one who told the police that Genia was hiding them so that he could get revenge on Felix for not joining his gang. “Cyryl is pushing his way his way toward me, his wet lips smirking, Your Hitler youth friend can help you now, Jew boy , he says. The police have arrested your vermin family” (Gleitzman). This also shows that Cyryl wants to get revenge since Felix passed as a polish person. Also he managed to do this because he had Zelda’s locket which have a picture of two nazi soldiers. Those soldiers are Zelda’s parents so Felix showed the Nazis the locket so that they believed that those are his parents. Cyryl knew that wasn't true so he kept telling them to arrest him but since Felix has a Hitler youth friend he decided to defend Felix and punch Cyryl in the stomach. “The Hitler youth boy turns back to the soldiers and specks to them again in German.
