As a consumer it is important to understand the labels of the processed foods we may consume. Use the frozen food label below to answer the following questions. For calculations you must show your work for credit. No credit will be given if your work is not shown. (2 pts. poss. each question).
1. What percentage of the total calories comes from fat?
43 g of fat x 9 cal/g = 387 calories from fat 387 / 670 total calories = 58% total calories from fat

2. a. What percentage of the total calories comes from saturated fat?
17 g x 9 cal/g = 153 cal
153 / 670 = 23% total calories from saturated fat

b. What three ingredients contribute the largest amount of saturated fat? The three ingredients that contain the most saturated fat are the cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, and the half and half by amounts but the ingredients with the highest saturated fat content are cream cheese, heavy whipping cream and butter. Use the following example to answer #3a and b:
Based on a 2000 calorie diet, what is the percentage of the Daily Value for cholesterol contributed by this particular product?
Answer: 65mg / 300 mg x 100 = 22%
3. Based on a 2000 calorie diet:
a. What is the percentage of the Daily Value for total fat contributed by this particular product? 43g/ 65g x 100 = 66%

b. What is the percentage of the Daily Value for saturated fat contributed by this particular product? 17g / 20g x 100= 85%

4. What is the percentage of the Daily Value for total sodium contributed by this particular product?
1180g / 2400g x 100 = 49%

5. Why might the above information be important for most people? Explain. This information is important for most people because it has pretty high percentages of things in their diet that is not recommended. If they are to consume a full serving of this food they will need to limit the amount of sodium, fat and unsaturated fat
