Changing Seasons
Changing Seasons Seasons are typically a pleasant thought for individuals. People commonly have a season or a type of weather that they consider their favorite. Whether it is summer, fall, winter, or spring, certain people desire different climates and look forward to when their preferred season arrives. Some people may overlook the fact that changing seasons can have a lot of effect on your mood. Seasons can provoke a very good change for the mind; on the other hand, there is a time of year that an individual struggles with these types of mood changes, which would be the arrival of summer. The effects on a person during the morph from spring to summer are caused by the psychological, physical, and mental changes.

To start off, some individuals struggle with psychological disorders due to the change in seasons. Psychologist have discovered that one out of every twenty people suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD), the majority being women. SAD is defined as seasonal condition in which a person suffers depression during the change of seasons. The cause of SAD remains a mystery. Some researches believe that the lack of sunlight disrupts certain rhythms, which regulate our body's internal clocks. Undergoing this depression can be a traumatic experience for a person, but it can be treated.

Although the changing of seasons can be a harsh event for an individual, there are also physical effects that can be positive. During pleasant weather there are a variety of activities that one can indulge in the great outdoors. Physically, sunlight causes vitamins to increase in your body. This seems to clear your mind and increase your metabolism, which allows a person to be more active. Another physical trait that sunlight causes is your body to defend itself, which results in a tan.

Finally, the seasonal changes also affect your mental state of mind. Some people believe that when the weather is better that a person's attitude in general is mellower. Summer is a very refreshing time of year for most people. It's a season where life seems to be more relaxing and carefree due to the outdoor activities and less obligations for the average student. Mentally a person's mind has proven to be clearer and their mentality seems to be overall happier during the summer seasons.

The psychological, physical, and mental changes a person deals with during the changing of seasons can be either a negative or positive experience. Although some individuals experience a seasonal depression in the transformation from season to season, it seems that once the pleasant weather has arrived that the physical and the mental characteristics improve a person's aspects and attitudes. Seasonal changes can have a lasting effect on a person.

“Summer really does tend to be a time of reduced productivity. Our brains do, figuratively, wilt,” argues Maria Konnikova in “Why Summer Makes Us Lazy.” She asserts that bad weather improves productivity, while a hot weather can reduce attention and energy. While I agree that summer can make us lazy because of ideas of leisure, I disagree that bad weather can increase productivity because, when it is raining hard, I actually prefer to sleep than work. I agree that summer can decrease productivity when people think of leisure and feel lower energy and attention, but it is not always true that bad weather boosts productivity when it may result in sleepiness.…

Seasons have had control over the way people have been living since the beginning of time, and because of that, seasons have dominance over a novel that often goes unnoticed; by creating an atmosphere that readers can relate to. All seasons have certain aspects of life associated with them Thomas C. Foster writes about this in his book How to Read Like a Professor:…

Chapter twenty of How to Read Literature Like a Professor is utilized to display the importance of season in literature. Foster explains how different authors have used it to suit different needs but in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater, the importance of season is so blatant that it’s impossible to miss. The premise of the trilogy is that the werewolves that exist within it are unable to become human once again until it is warm enough. But each year, they require the temperature to be higher and higher to be able to change. Eventually, it doesn’t ever become warm enough again, and they are stuck as a wolf forever. The seasons represent a more general term of temperature, and as a way for the wolves to measure both the…

Summer to me is the season of fun; the season where kids get to be outside play all day long because the day is illuminated by the sun almost until eight at night. I got to play all day and it was even better when my cousins came over, I especially enjoyed this season when I was little. I have four other cousins that are about my age so you can imagine how chaotic it was with six kids from ages six to ten years old being together. As all kids we looked for adventure with our imagination, we invented games, and our parents taught us games they played when they were younger. One game that especially stood out was a game called “hoyitos” or “little holes”.…

It is much easier to drive in the summer, but it still presents a few problems. For instance, a heavy shower or thunderstorm can leave large puddles on the road, which would cause us to hydroplane if we are driving too fast. Summer is also when most road constructions are done, so we must be careful and be aware of directional changes in traffic, detours and of course street closings. We must also beware of blinding sun and take care to use sunglasses or pull down visors.…

During the winter, many of us suffer from “the winter blues”, a less severe form of seasonal depression than SAD. In general, many people suffer from some form of depression during the wintertime. We may feel more tired and sad at times. We may even gain weight or have trouble getting out of bed. We may be lethargic or uncaring about normal day-to-day responsibilities. Over 10 million people in America, however, may feel a more extreme form of these symptoms (Psychiatric Times). They may constantly feel more depressed to an extent that social and work related activities are harmfully affected. This more extreme form of the “winter blues” is SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder.…

In my opinion, summer symbolises abundant vitality which can be seen through the description Nick gives to Myrtle Wilson. “She was in the middle thirties, and faintly stout… but there was an immediately perceptible vitality about her as if the nerves of her body were continually smouldering.” (Chapter 2) During the summer months, romance and passion also seem to…
