CHANGING OUR LIVES
A Meaningful Journey

Making this decision to attend college to obtain a degree was a battle of thoughts in my mind. The question of being forty-two years of age pondering if I was too old to fulfill this passion, thinking time has passed me by. I feared starting something that I would not complete, just like all the other projects or goals that are still parked on the sideline. The people and examples that I heedfully looked up to were on shaky grounds until one day, I had a breakthrough. When my husband and I moved into our new home I meet my neighbor who encouraged me and is a candidate of a life with a degree. The timing was right, because what I feared in the past, I was now ready to push forward for a future, and enrolling in Strayer University is the best decision I ever made in life. Secondly, the world today dictates strengthens and weaknesses, either you are going to strive for the best or settle for less. The key to my smile is the work I am putting in to build a financially stable foundation. I have worked many jobs, sometimes two, and am in hopes of not being classified as living from payday to payday. The trend of this edgy living is scary, what if something happens? I don’t have any emergency funds to fall back on, what do I do? To be comfortable is to be wise, education and a good salary will help save money, start a retirement plan, and the biggest of all is the peace within in your golden years. To sum this up, success is like safety there will always be some type of chronic unease. Success also makes you think “anything can happen at anytime”. People and personalities improve the knowledge of critical thinking which gives out power to make right decisions. I want to be part of that group, to know what I want out of life, and trust the decision

I began browsing through a few colleges trying to decide the best one to suit my situation. I felt as though I needed a game plan or should I say a guideline as to what steps I needed to take to accomplish the goals I had in mind. First, I browsed schools and realized that the University of Phoenix catered to parents and working people. This was the break I had been looking for. Second, I had to make the decision of being an online student or a campus student. Online would not have worked for me caused I could easily be distracted at times with family life. I decided it would be best if I was in a setting away from home. Third, I had to decide the career path or study I was going to follow. Of course, I chose to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in Finance. Last but not least I had to choose a method of payment and establish a way to pay for this college tuition. This were all steps in the decision-making process in…

Starting at eight years old, I always envisioned attending college and obtaining a degree that would allow me to accomplish what I want in life. Over time, I have faced many obstacles such as dyslexia, emotional trauma, and family challenges. All through these challenges, I never let anything deter me from my course of attending college. Despite being able to overcome obstacles, I have come to realize there are things in life that I have little to no control over. Now that I have had time to experience the joys, hard work, and endless opportunities that come with being a college student, I have come too far to let anything stop me from finishing this chapter of my life. In combination with my scholarships and work-study, as a college student with little money I rely partly on my parents to finance my education. Although my parents will continue to do all they can to help finance my education, their income stability is not guaranteed, my family…

Success is mostly recognized by the person who succeeds, but most do not realize the factors that upturn someone to great success. A well-presented book of people conquering success is, Outliers: The Story of Success, written by Malcolm Gladwell, lists prime examples of what it takes to be a true Outlier. An Outlier is someone that is above normal and achieves success beyond the regular. Gladwell demonstrates that almost all of society’s success stories are a paradigm: a pattern of fortunate events. Realizing that maybe we should be more aware of the paradigm of success in our world. Our perspective over the years have been that people complete success on their own, however, success has other driven forces. A true outlier does not obtain random…

Success is an integral part of a good life. Everybody wants to be successful and everybody has the potential to be such. The familial environment that I grew up in and the habits that were instilled in me set me on a successful path. I consider myself to come from a successful family. My father was an esteemed judge in Iraq (I say was because he is no longer alive; he was killed after the break out of the war in Iraq in 2003). My mother graduated college with an engineering degree and taught electrical engineering at several high schools in Baghdad. Growing up between them, it was never ok to be lazy or careless and being successful was the optimum way of life. I was always encouraged to do well in school and give my best effort in everything.…

Right after she started she began do have doubts about whether or not she could finish a degree or not. I encouraged her in every way I could think of but nothing really helped until I enrolled in SNHU. She was so proud that she was able to help out her big brother with things that she had been through and this made her confidence soar. The second reason was my bucket list.
