Challenges In The Odyssey
In the book “The Odyssey” the trails that Odysseus Faces when he returns home after his long voyage, matches those of the hero's journey. In “The Odyssey” a man named Odysseus leaves his family and homeland for 20 years and faces many challenges and when he returns home his wife is being forced to marry a new man and Odysseus has to face challenges to get her back. “Can I give a proper heed to guest or supplant or herald on the realms affairs… Wasted with longing Odysseus, while here they press for marriage” (The Odyssey 1315-1330). This quote shows how Penelope (Odysseus’s wife) is being forced to marry a new man and sets up the entire reason that Odysseus has to conquer the challenges to reunite with his family.
