Cesar Chavez: True Wealth
According to Cesar Chavez, “True wealth is not measured by money or status or power, it is measured by the legacy we leave behind for those we love and those we inspire.” -Cesar Chavez. So, what exactly is wealth? In today’s world, if you were to ask some random person on the street that question, they would probably tell you it is the amount of money you have in the bank or a number of stocks you might own or how many exotic sports cars you might have. In reality, there is much more to wealth than just monetary value, you could be considered wealthy just by being a family oriented person that lives life to the fullest.
Being wealthy is being able to drive to your large Florida home after a long day at the office, in that vibrant orange Lamborghini

    Although Martin Luther King and Cesar Chavez came from very different backgrounds, their success as leaders of the Civil Rights Movement bears many similarities in its historic development. One major similarity between King and Chavez is that they were both great orators and made a number of notable speeches, which contributed to the social advancement of the minorities. King, who was ordained as a Baptist minister at the age of 27, was often put in the position to preach about what he believed in to large numbers of people. As a result, he was quite comfortable speaking to thousands at gatherings such as the historic March on Washington. Chavez, on the other hand, came from a poor migrant family and initially worried that he wasn't a good speaker. At the meetings he organised, Chavez often ended up doing more listening then speaking. However with time, his confidence grew as he found people listening and agreeing with what he had to say and so made many great speeches as did King. Their lectures and remarks made clear their selfless devotion to their causes and gave the blacks and Chicanos a new sense of worth and dignity which made them want improvements and change even more.…

    Cesar Chavez was an American farm worker labor who was a leader and civil rights activist. Later, in 1962, Chávez founded the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA), later renamed the United Farm Workers (UFW), which became the voice of migrant farm workers throughout the United States. Cesar Chavez tactics were successful because his childhood experiences with discrimination made him get the courage to fight for their rights; besides he became passionate about improving the way of life for farm workers and for his people; additionally he also used nonviolence tactics, for example boycotts and strikes, nevertheless when the California Senate considered a bill to memorialize Chavez by making his birthday, March 31, a state holiday, the masks came off. The Senate approved the bill, 23-0, and sent it to the Assembly. But 16 senators abstained. The dissenters, Republicans, who opposed the bill, didn't even have the guts to make a counter-argument for fear of appearing anti-Latino, given the affection that many, but not all, Latinos feel for Chavez.     Cesar Estrada Chavez was born March 31, 1927 in Yuma, Az. He died at age 66 on April 23, 1993 in San Luis, Az. Co-founded the National Farm Workers Association with Dolores Huerta.
