Cesar Chavez is a very important figure in Mexican history. He is more commonly known for getting better pay and safer working conditions for mexican farmworkers. However, the director fails in his attempt to clearly illustrate (Cesar Chavez) motivation and therefore fails to accurately tell the real story of Cesar Chavez. The first reason I think that the director failed on was quotes. When Cesar (in the movie) was giving a speech about grapes he said “It is never about grapes, it is about the people.” When the real quote is “The fight is never about grapes or lettuce.     Cesar E. Chavez, born on March 31st, 1927, was a Latino farm worker, labor leader, civil rights activist, and to this day a hero. Chavez was antiquated with prejudice and injustice from a young age. He would work part-time on the field with his parents; there he was exposed to the hardships and injustice of the farm work life. Chavez only achieved an eighth grade education due to his father getting injured. Since then he had to work full-time on the fields. Later in his life, Cesar Chavez joined the CSO, an outstanding Latino civil rights group. He became the CSO's national director; however his dream was to form an organization that protected and served migrant farm workers. He resigned in 1962. Chavez left the security of a regular paycheck and found The National Farm Workers Association (later changed to The United Farm Worker Union). He led the successful first farm worker union for more than thirty years. With his hard work he achieved respect, dignity, fair wages, medical coverage, and humane living condition as well as many more rights and forms of protection for a massive amount of migrant workers in 1975 when The California Agriculture Labor Relationships Act was passed. To this day it is the only law protecting farm workers.…

    Cesar Chavez was an American farm worker labor who was a leader and civil rights activist. Later, in 1962, Chávez founded the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA), later renamed the United Farm Workers (UFW), which became the voice of migrant farm workers throughout the United States. Cesar Chavez tactics were successful because his childhood experiences with discrimination made him get the courage to fight for their rights; besides he became passionate about improving the way of life for farm workers and for his people; additionally he also used nonviolence tactics, for example boycotts and strikes, nevertheless when the California Senate considered a bill to memorialize Chavez by making his birthday, March 31, a state holiday, the masks came off. The Senate approved the bill, 23-0, and sent it to the Assembly. But 16 senators abstained. The dissenters, Republicans, who opposed the bill, didn't even have the guts to make a counter-argument for fear of appearing anti-Latino, given the affection that many, but not all, Latinos feel for Chavez.     To know that he was capable of moving and getting through all the setbacks that arise makes me feel like I’m capable of enduring any challenges in life. For him to constantly get rejected even by his family shows how strong of an individual he is.
