Cervical Cancer
Yesterday, my Aunt Marilou and Aunt Venus accompanied me to Las Pinas Doctors Hospital to visit Dr. David, my mom's OB-GYNE. Well, I'm not pregnant, mind you. It's just that I have a week late appointment with her.. My cervical cancer vaccine. (if it has a name, I'm sorry, I don't know it. Hahaha)

I had my first shot of the vaccine last May 22. Dr. David told me that time to spread the news about the increasing rate of deaths from cervical cancer.

According to what I've read in the small flyer I got from Dr. David's clinic, approximately 80% of women population acquires cervical cancer some time in their lives. Everyday, about 12 Filipino women die from cervical cancer and for five years, more than half of women population diagnosed with cervical cancer die.

Cervical cancer is caused by a virus called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This is acquired bywomen who had physical contact with a person who have HPV too. Women, 30 years and above, are most likely prone to cervical cancer. But according to Dr. David, she had a patient who got pregnant at the age of 26 and consulted her. She discovered that she had it and told her that there's no other way but to remove her uterus and cervix. Yes, that meant that the fetus (4 weeks old) had to be removed too.. (This part gave me chills..) It was discovered that her patient had cervical cancer when she was still 17 years old.

This cancer is a "silent" cancer. It starts during a woman's adolescence and eventually shows symptoms when it reached the severe stages. Symptoms and signs are not easily seen and felt at first. This is when Dr. David asked me to tell all my girl relatives and girl friends to have their cervical vaccines as soon as possible. 3 shots of this vaccine ensures your safety from acquiring this silent and deadly disease.

I made this blog to reach each and every girl out there and warn them. I can't just sit around and not spread the word. Every girl has a dream to have her own family. Husband.

Most cervical cancers are carcinomas, which grow from the epithelial cells that cover the cervix and protect its surface” (Rebecca Skloot, 2010, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Henrietta was treated with radium tube inserts, which were sewn in place. Radium was first discovered in the late 1800s and it destroys any cells it encounters,…

The HPV vaccine has created many heated debates, but the bottom line come down to whether or not the time for this vaccination is now. Mike Adams, author of “HPV Vaccine Texas Tyranny,” and Arthur Allen, author of “The HPV Debate Needs an Injection of Reality,” discuss the mandated HPV vaccine. Both acknowledge that the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine lack credibility and that the affordability of the vaccine is not favorable to disadvantaged families; however, they disagree that there is more than one effective way to prevent cervical cancer (445-447) (448-450).…

Cervical cancer is the second common cancer in women. Cervical cancer is a sexually transmitted disease caused by human papillovirus , or also known as HPV. Some people may not experience any cervical cancer symptoms. There are several risk factors that may increase the risk such as having multiple partners. Having sex at an early age may also increase the risk of HPV. Sexual transmitted diseases such as Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and cigarette smoking can also cause cervical cancer. There are treatments available if detected at earlier stages. Two types of screening for cervical cancer are pap test and HPV DNA test. Vaccines can protect against HPV virus that cause the cervical cancer. Cancer of the Cervix is a very invasive cancer that attacks a woman's reproductive system. The cervical canal is a passageway where blood flows from the uterus through the canal into the vagina during a women's menstrual period. During pregnancy, the cervix is tightly closed to help keep the baby inside the uterus. Throughout childbirth, the cervix dilates to allow the baby pass through the vagina (Cancer of the Cervix). The most common form of cancer of the cervix is squamous cell carcinoma and develops from the flat cells, which cover the outer surface of the cervix at the top of the vagina. Another frequent type is adenocarcinoma and expands itself through the glandular cells, which line the cervical canal (Cancer Backup). As a result, cervical cancer is now the second leading death rate among women. Some types of HPV are strongly associated with a high risk of developing cervical cancer. Scientists believe that HPV initiates a process that leads, over time, to the development of cervical cancer; and that other factors, such as cigarette smoking, poor nutrition and infection with the sexually transmitted disease Chlamydia, stimulate and lay the groundwork for cervical cancer.…
