1. Describe your thoughts, feelings and initial response to the physical environment. At what facility is your placement? My placement is after school program YMCA at Centerville Elementary School in Beverly. Thoughts, feelings, and initial response to the physical environment were, that the school is big and has safety provided. Such as, the main entrance have video security camera. The door is not opened until the permission isn’t given from the inside. All doors are locked and cannot be opened from the outside. The school has a very big gym, nice and clean. I liked the art room that was close to the gym. It has a colorful rug, paintings were hung on the wall, and the environment was very calm. Employees were very friendly and …show more content…
Identify and describe your personal strengths that will help you to succeed in this placement and contribute to the clients/members’ experience during your fieldwork? Personal strengths that could help me to succeed in this placement would be listening and communication. In my opinion, listening plays an important role in this environment, listening to their stories and problems will help me built the trust. Which leads to a great understanding of the kids and building up the relationship. However, communication is also very important in this placement. Connecting with the kids and knowing their likes and dislikes will help the members to provide meaningful activities to improve their QOL.

Professional knowledge, skills, and abilities I bring to this settings are to provide meaningful activities, educate coping strategies, provide adaptive skills, and learn the strengths. I will be providing a meaningful activity to this setting for children with behavioral and emotional difficulties to improve QOL. I will be teaching kids adaptive skills to cope with problems that they are experiencing in their lives. Such as problem solving skills and stress coping strategies. These strategies will help them learn different ways of dealing problems and will calm them in difficult situations. 2.Referencing the knowledge, skills, and abilities defined and described above, what contributions might you make during your placement at this Level I Fieldwork
