Cell Phones
Cell Phones: Good or Bad? Many schools across the globe let students use their phones in class. May it be for research, music, or just to play games in downtime, the schools allow them to be on their phones. A lot of other schools disapprove of students having their cell phone out for any reason at all. I think that all schools should allow their students to have their phones for many different reasons. But some students will try to abuse it, which should not be allowed to take part in being allowed to be on their phones. First of all, some schools might not have the budget to have a computer cart for every classroom, or even just a couple that can be shared between teachers. Students being allowed to use their phones will reduce the amount of computers needed, ultimately using less of the schools budget. Even for the schools that do have the budget necessary to purchase and maintain a large number of computers, by needing less they will be able to use that money for another purpose within the school. With the students using their phones they can quickly get to any information needed, may it be a biography of somebody, or even just a quick little video to help them understand something. The teachers can plan out lessons on a website, so that all students can check the lesson plan at any time, even when they aren’t in that class or the teacher is out. There can even be reminders on that same website about homework, or any upcoming tests. Students should also be able to contact their parent/s or legal guardian/s for any emergencies, and vice versa. They would be able to have their parents bring them something that they left at home. If needed students could get in touch with their parents about any major sickness or injury very quickly. Parents could also remind their children about anything they have to do, like being picked up early, or just to go home a different way. As you can see, I have given a few reasons why cell phones should be allowed, and there

To begin with, the phones provided as a great tool for the students to use in the class room. The students were as cheerful about using their phones as much as going on a field trip. You can also download educational apps for school. For instance, there’s an app that tells you what you’re looking at in the sky at night with just a push of a button and it calculates all the objects in the sky at real-time including moon phase, planets position, and stars position. It takes the class to places we’ll never be. Last week, I asked my Science teacher “I wonder what the moon looks like up close?” Next thing you know, BOOM there we are right where Neil…

The second reason that students shouldn't be allowed to use cell phones in school for education is for the sake of the teachers, a teacher should not have to fight for the attention of his or her students due to technology. After twenty years of teaching history and ESL for Lowell High School, Miriam Morgenstern is quitting her job for multiple reasons. One of Morgenstern’s reasons for quitting is her students and their cell phones, she explains her frustration, “The texting, tweeting, and snapchatting during class time are ‘an incredible distraction, and makes it much more difficult to teach,’ she said. ‘It’s pretty hard to compete with a very funny YouTube video.’” It is unacceptable that students are using their phones while the teacher…

According to the YouTube video "Cell Phones in School", it states how having internet at the fingertips of students, it can bring the curriculum further and more in depth than the textbooks allow. Having the curriculum at a student's fingertips, adds so much more than the textbook could possibly provide the student with. Moreover, adding to the student's overall understanding and insight on the lesson could lead to better test scores and overall grades. So if the use of cell phones could possibly help a student excel in the classroom, the cell phones policy should be reevaluated to better the school. Since the internet is at the student's fingertips, it can help a struggling student better understand the material, allowing them to excel in class. There is more than one side to the debate about cell phone availability during school. One claim is that students should be allowed to have their phones on them and use their cell phones during appropriate times. In the article, the authors provide details about how there are numerous reasons why cell phones should be allowed during school. Another reason why cell phones should be allowed in school is because otherwise it can create a divide between the students and the teachers. Another reason cell phones should not be banned in classrooms is because students can use them as a reminder or planner. Generally, cell phones have a calendar built in the device. In my biology class, I have a unit 5 test, unit portfolio assessment and a lab report due all on different days; I used my calendar app in my cell phone to be a reminder. Therefore, cell phones can remind me that I have assignments and tests coming up. This shows that a cell phone can benefit students in the classrooms.…

Cell Phones shouldn't be aloud in schools because of all the bullying and harassment that goes on in the classroom. They could use their cellular devices for cheating on worksheets, quizzes, and tests. Kids these days get a great deal of school work online and if they don’t have a computer or a tablet then they can use their phone to do homework at their house or in the car or other places. Kids also might need this to contact a partner for a school project to set up a time when to meet up and work together, and if you leave your homework at school you could ask a friend to send you a picture and you can print it out. Now kids should be responsible and remember their work but just in case they have a phone to communicate and touch base and save themselves.…
