Times have changed tremendously in the last twenty five years in regards to how the world communicates with each other. The birth of new technology such as cell phones with internet capability, laptop computers, and even the recently released I-Pad has made communication with anyone outside of talking distance immediately accessible. Even though to many people this seems like a movement in the right direction for the future of the world, there are still people who hold firm on the idea that communicating with people face to face is much better for society. Teenagers today use cell phones much more than any other age group, but they are not the only ones affected; parents and even young children have become wrapped up in mobile connectivity. There are different kinds of distractions for using a cell phone while driving but the common one is visual distraction, which is watching a cell phone screen instead of the road and trying to reach to the ring ton. Being a driver requires to have attention on the road but trying to use cell phone makes somebody loose control of his or her car and crash. The final effect is talking on the cell phone and driving as the same time. This driver is driving by concentrating on the conversation but not the road. In addition, since the person attention is on the cell phone not on the road, there is a possibility of causing accident to the car in the front or hitting a pedestrian. We were on our way into Manhattan for our monthly shopping trip to Wal-Mart. I was riding in the backseat as always, being the youngest. My oldest sister, Nicole, was in a state of the utmost euphoria, because today was the day she got her first cellphone. My parents made her a promise that if she was getting good grades they would buy her a cellphone her freshman year of high school.
