Maintaining a Commitment to Professionalism

Professionalism

To maintain a commitment to professionalism I will introduce daily opportunities for the children within the classroom to explore their surrounding world through play, examination, art and science activities and much more. The children will be encouraged to explore each center within the classroom; these centers will be set up based upon the theme of the week. There will be an art center, a library, a block area, a home living center, and a manipulative and science/sensory center within the classroom. At times some of these centers may be changed according to the theme plan for the week.

A lesson plan will be posted for the parents to view each week. At the end of the day there is a daily event note posted on the door to let each parent view what we did during the day. Also, a “toddler gram/infant gram” note will go home with each child stating the art activity, the science/sensory activity, the gross motor activity (outside play), as well as diaper change/potty time, what we had for a snack and lunch, and any reminders for the following day. We have incorporated a monthly calendar. Each parent may take this home to give them an idea of the theme that we will be doing each week, any important dates that are coming up, and any reminders that may be needed.

Twice per year there are conference times set up for the parents to meet with teachers regarding to the progress of their child and what we will be working on for the remainder of the year. The parents are encouraged to attend one or both of these. If the parents have questions or concerns, they are encouraged to ask at anytime, whether it is daily or at the time of the conferences. Also if a parent would like to have a consultation before or after the arranged times, they are encouraged to seek this opportunity at any time.

For personal growth I will attend any workshop that will encourage and

To maintain a commitment to professionalism in childcare you should set a goal for yourself. My goal in my classroom is to set a standard of excellence with in my facility and to commit myself to the growth and development of each child in offering a positive, kind, loving, and safe atmosphere. I have respect, not only for myself but, for my center, each child, and their families. I keep all parental information shared with me confidential. I also uphold all health and safety regulations and make children's well-being my top priority. I remain trustworthy to children parents and staff at the center. I also respect family diversity. This includes but is not limited to cultural differences, orientation, or economic status. I encourage individuality in children. I treat each child with respect and help them to build a positive self- image. Being informed is being ready to assist any child with any need they may have. I feel it is important to always stay positive and keep a smile on your face. Stay on top of new regulations for your center as well as updated laws and other developments within early childhood education. Always make sure you have information to help parents that have children with additional needs your center cannot provide and have contact information readily available for the reporting of any sexual abuse, child abuse, or neglect. I feel I am a kind and loving person and am genuinely concerned about the growth and development of each child entering my center. I want to give them every opportunity to grow and learn in a safe environment. I love working and being around children not just in a group setting but also a one on one setting.…

My first priority is to keep the environment safe to reduce injures. I will take my responsibility very seriously and make sure that there is no child injures at the center. I will make sure that there is no infant left unattended on a changing table. Young infants are only allowed to sleep in their cribs. Not in the car safety seat, bouncy seat, or any other equipment that is not safety approved. Cribs in our facility will be free of blankets, toys and other soft materials that could cause suffocation. All of our facility toys will be large enough to prevent infants from trying to eat or swallow objects that could cause choking. On a daily basis, all toys and equipment will be inspected to make sure they are safe and in working order. Broken toys, chipped wall paint, loose nuts and bolts or splinters from wooden furniture will not be acceptable at any time. All electrical cords and wires in my facility will be tied and out of sight to prevent children from tripping and falling. All of our unused electrical outlets will be covered by safety devices to prevent children from placing objects into the sockets. Last but not least, safety rules and guidelines will constantly be preached and practiced by our children.…

How I ensure that families are kept aware of what’s happening in their child’s daily/ or weekly life in my program is by having room displays such as photos and posters of the children interacting with each other and bulletin boards of their artwork all around my center. I would also post pictures of the children dancing and laughing around my class to show the parents the fun things we do. I would also post pictures of them working to show the children’s parents that my children are getting educated and that my children are learning. I am also able to provide the families with my weekly agenda of what the children and I will be working on. I can also exchange emails with the families to communicate via email, if they have any questions we can also exchange numbers. I can also provide daily reports of the child’s daily progress. I do my part to maintain a well run purposeful program, responsive to participant needs. On their first day in our program, I make an effort to meet and greet our clients, the parents as well as the children. I ask the parents if they need any special requirements, accommodations or modifications to better service their children. I also ask the children which games they enjoy, and see if they have any questions for me about the program. This gives them an opportunity to know we have familiar activities that they are used to, gives them a chance to share their fears and worries about the program, and they also to get to know me a little better. With this information from the children, parents and our director, the counselors and I work together as planners, getting our weekly schedules for the children and taking turns delegating the activities. We come up with our own plans and put them together to form a enriched learning program.…
