Tarra L. Stangl, Professional Childcare Provider
Growing up with my single mom who struggled to find quality, affordable care for me as I was growing up, I knew that when I married and had children, I wanted to find someone who wanted a more traditional home where I could stay at home with our kids to provide a home rooted in nurturing and security.
My first client was a single mom who needed to go on state daycare assistance to help pay for her child’s care. Knowing the struggles my own mother had, I agreed to become a registered childcare provider with the intention of helping her. I jumped into registration and began the trainings that were required by the state. I was heartbroken hearing different provider’s lack of vision for quality childcare. I was determined, “if I am going to do this, I am going to provide care with excellence.” It truly was a turning point for me.
After obtaining my Child Net Certification, I began working on my QRS rating and have maintained a QRS level 4 rating since 2009. In 2010, we moved to Cedar Rapids, and The Growing Patch flourished and became the place I envisioned, one where the children I provide care for can: grow, learn and be encouraged. In December of 2013, I received National Accreditation through NAFCC and am currently working on my next professional goal of obtaining my CDA. How many people can honestly say they are happy and passionate about their career choice? I can! I am in awe of the wonder and excitement that children possess and I strive to provide the highest quality of care I can in an in-home setting, while offering a professional service to the community of Cedar Rapids.
